    Hey all,

I tried searching this and just found late 60s/early 70s style tires (cragar mags and fat tires). And I’m thinking about putting regular firestones on my phaeton, but was wondering if anyone has and links for skinny white wall (1” pin thick white wall) tires?

Also maybe slicks? It looks like towel city’s pie crusts make the skinniest white wall pie crust.

But does anyone make anything like this?

I love the 60s style and is kinda the goal I’m looking for with my 28 tub. Just wondering if anyone has found a tire that can replicate this look I’m after.

    Thanks for your time,
    Gordy

VW old beetle 5.60 x 15” and 6.70 mid year Vette repo Firestones is about as close as you can get for W/W width. Unless you come across some old Bucrons. 32429D3F-B9BB-43AF-8190-F729EBFFFE09.jpeg E6E374EF-2B3C-4026-8B98-2391A13C1EAB.jpeg 6D2DF301-D656-42A7-9807-F1903EA275D4.jpeg

  3. I like that look myself. I have been fortunate enough to find nice original bias ply 1" whitewall tires here & there. (i found a set of five H78x15 in the basement at an estate sale. They were in perfect condition. I also found a pair of casler slicks in a salvage yard trailer. The owner said "I put those on a 52 ford with a mild cam back in '63, Didn't do anything spectacular at the track, so, i put them in this trailer & forgot about them"

  4. I like the 1" wide whites better than full whitewalls because the look is consistent front-to-back if you are running bigs and litttles. I hate seeing a 1 3/4 ww in front and a 3 1/4 in the rear.....just looks wrong to me. YOMV

Check out US Royals.. they have a early 60's vibe for sure..I had them on my coupe but ran the 1 inch white wall on the inside.I did have them on the outside for a short amount of time. They definitely had the vibe......
Honestly.. the best squared shoulder on a bias tire.. they work well(mine did)
    Had ZERO issues from Coker....
Not cheap,. but nothing is today.

I love them tires.... they have a few different sizes.

White walls got progressively narrower in the late 50's with what we now call narrow white walls being on most new cars in 1962. Remembering that some of the older guys thought they were getting cheated when the new white walls at the tire store in 62/63 were the narrow ones. Most newly built customs you see in show photos from late 62 and on though the 70's had the current narrow white wall or US Royal masters with their distinctive sidewall and narrow white wall.
If you were building a period correct mid 60's custom you would run the narrow white walls rather than wide whites. Even when I bought my 51 Merc in 1963 Wide whites were out on most cars except older restored cars.

Coker still makes the original BFG Silvertown, probably close to what you are looking for.... bfg-silvertown-800-14-ww1-53100.png

I'm really liking the US royals with the skinny white wall.

I was thinking of running either firestone blackwalls with white painted 16" steelies, but now I'm probably going to get those US royals in big and littles on chrome reverse 15s.

    Thanks for the help.
