I stoped at museum of American speed (speedway motors) on the way home from out west on Saturday. 200k sq. Feet of high performance automotive heaven. If you get the chance you need to see it. Have been going though Lincoln for 20 plus years . I have wanted to stop for years but the timing never worked out unit Saturday. It’s better than I could have dreamed of.

It's been decades (and the museum was smaller then), but one of Bill's sons gave me a personal tour - which included all the vintage lunch boxes in the employee lunch room. The speed equipment and cars were terrific - but all the toys just thrilled me to no end.

Best museum I have ever been to. Should be on everyone's bucket list

  18. Thanks for sharing and reminding me that I need to make it there.

  19. Been there a couple times. Got to meet and visit with Bill and Mrs. Bill(?). Also all four sons.
There is no way to describe the museum, but the photos above are a good start.

  20. I had a chance to visit their museum several years ago and it is something to see. Quite a variety of automotive eye candy! I was pretty amazed by this V-16 small-block Chevy.

Thanks for sharing - we are lucky that all of this has been saved, and on display for all to see - many collectors never allow anyone to see their stash

  22. It’s an incredible place!
In addition to the huge pedal car collection, there’s also a HUGE collection of tether car racers.
When I went, I was researching my Alexander OHV 4 cyl. head, and lucked in to a behind the scenes tour. Unbelievable!! Pallet racks of unrestored collectible engines, quick change rearends and just about anything else you could dream about.
    You got to go!

My brain hit OVERLOAD when I got to the taxi cab model collection (well over one hundred).

Speedy Bill has taken us on two tours of the museum. The last one was a month before he passed away 80BA63A3-B9E8-4239-8E32-F7DC05CDFA34.jpeg

They also have a working shop in the museum! There were some guys in there working on some odd engine when I visited it a few years ago. I thought that was cool! Kinda like the World of Wheels museum in Maggie Valley.

    Thanks for posting.
Regarding 1st & 3rd photos, I guess that they just plain ran out of usable flathead blocks to use all those intake manifolds on...................?:D

something I now do when visiting museums etc, is I not only take lots of photos, but I also take photos of the sign boards that go with each display, so I can read them when I get home, saves time and saves too much brain overload on the day.

  29. It's always nice to tour the museum because it's always changing. It's been about 4 years since I've gotten the tour so I'm over due for a visit. speedwayday3.jpg speedwayday4.jpg speedwayday7.jpg speedwayday56pont.jpg
