I know this is an old thread but I’ve been on the hunt for a coup too.

yes, this build started many years ago. Worked on it from time to time, but kept getting interrupted by buying other projects. Thanks for your comments. Keep looking and you will find that coupe!

All it takes is time and money.

image-1.jpg yes, they are still out there. So keep looking if your dream is to build a 33-34 Ford coupe. And check out Hamber Duke's 34 coupe in the for sale section.

Haven't talked much about the engine and driveline details in this thread. The 1953 Cadillac motor is a stock rebuild - and here you see the stock fuel pump. It did not work very well, so installed an electric fuel pump inside the rear frame rail. The gas runs through the stock pump, which has a plate inside to prevent gas going into the crankcase. Not difficult to do, and keeps the motor looking stock. The trans is 39 Ford and the rear axle is 40 ford, with Hotrod Works axle conversion. The wiring is old school from scratch - no wiring kit here. IMG_3018.jpg IMG_3041.jpg

All the chrome parts on this coupe were chromed back in the day. The front axle was the start of this build - bought it in the 90's off a fellow who was changing over to a tube axle. Had to buy a complete motor to get the chrome engine pieces, but that motor is now slated to go in a friend's 39 ford coupe.

The crank pulley and fan extension have been in my garage since the late 60's - I was a teenager then. Glad I finally got to use them. No, not the same garage, gone through a few over the years.

Using the Early V8 Garage hydraulic conversion kit. Very impressed with their product and service. IMG_3049.jpg

The coupe has Buick finned drums up front, and repro Lincoln brakes on all four corners. Using an F1 steering box, gave plenty of clearance for the Cadillac exhaust manifold. IMG_3022.jpg IMG_3024.jpg

Check out the dash - mostly old SW instruments picked up at swap meets. The inside door window moldings are cut down tudor units. IMG_3026 (1).jpg

Thanks to my friends Lorne Friesen, John Aasen, Keith Smith and Al Gunnarson who helped a lot during this build. Thanks also to Syd Moorhouse for the carb rebuild and for sharing his great amount of hot rod knowledge. Thanks also to my up island friends Ron Greenfield and John Vicars for their help on the project. Never say "you built it yourself" - friends are always there to help get the job done.

Here is a recent photo of Alan Little and me standing next to my coupe. Alan sold me the headlights and dash used in this build. He is currently rebuilding a 34 Ford fordor hotrod he originally built in the 60's. The fordor will be back on the road again soon. IMG_20240309_220446.jpg
