Hot Rods Amazing what a wheel and tire change will do

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by da34guy, Apr 22, 2021.

  1. Maybe not HAMB approved but changed the wheel tire combo on this yesterday. Sure looks a lot better. 2021 33 3 window in driveway.jpg 2021 33 new wheels 1.jpg 2021 33new wheels 3.jpg

Love it, great choice! What's the deal with the tail lights?

Nice. It's amazing how guys will rant about someone's wheel choice as if they're a permanent part of a car.

Looks great! I plan on putting period correct wheels on my car in the near future. Nothing sets a car off like stance and wheels. ;)

that fiberglass grille surround with billet insert needs to disappear too, on the bright side door handles and hairpins look great unusual for a street rod of the era, car sit's nice

  11. I like the others better...just kidding. :D Someone had to say it though. Looks much better (as you already know Don). Amazing how pulling off some billet crap can make a street rod cool again.

I get about 10 minuets a day, (some days), here to read and comment.
Picked this post because it is a 34 and a real killer one at that. I really like the color, the hair pins, that it is channeled. I try not to comment negatively on what a HAMBer does to his ride' so with that I'll just say the wheels are not my cup of tea, but then neither were the originals. I'm fully aware that the positive remarks are from the more traditionalists than what I am.:):):)

  13. The original billet wheels did absolutely nothing for the car, the painted wheels are 100 % better. HRP

Years ago I bought this T bucket because it looked like an early 60s build except someone had put Centerlines ! on it. Put some new chrome wheels...and OLD tires on it and it looked just right..

I'm pretty sure that grill is specific to that body, there really is no other choice.

Do you really mean those wheels were machined from one solid piece of material?

The new rims really make a lot of the "street rod" go away.:D
You might consider painting the grille shell a silver...it might help make the car look a little less "Alloway-ish";)

I agree. 927.jpg 426.jpg My buddy would change things up on his Crown every so often and it would change the look of the car.

da34guy, the most important question is which do you prefer. It's your car, your money, do what you want. If others don't like it, let them work on their own cars. Why worry about what others think?

40 Chevrolet tail lights are perfect for 33-34 aprons. I think the silver/gray one has them. Puts the flat lense to be seen.. I like the way the skinnier taller tire looks in the wheel well....
