I've had a soft spot in my heart for 6 cylinders since I was a teenager or in my early 20's when there was an article about Kay Cissell in Hot Rod Magazine. There are some great photos of really neat 6 cylinder engines in this thread, but what it's missing is VIDEO with SOUND! Nothing so sweet sounding as a 6 cylinder at full boil!

@Cody Walls needs to post up pics of the 6 that was in the 59 wagon, as well as his current mill for the 32.

    That Sir, is a fact!
    7 main bearings
    Timing GEARS
    50 cubic inches per cylinder
It will take up to a .700 lift cam from the factory. Built right it will make about 330 ftlbs of torque.
Just don't rev it past 5500 rpm with a stock bottom end!

I took a 85 F150 300 6 with a c6 trans swapped a 240 head 300 fi exhaust manifolds a offenhauser C manifold with a divider between the front and back half with the carb mounted sideways every other cylinder pulled from other side of the carb like a 180 V8 manifold a mild crane cam. The truck in street clothes tires and exhaust was in the 14s

I have one of those too. Too bad it's too big for the vintage engine class at Bonneville. Too big for much else.

    That is cool!
Mine is a little more tame. Stock 300 single exhaust and one barrel carb. A C4 automatic and a 8 inch with 2.79 gears. I guesstimate 90 hp and 220 ftlbs of torque to push a basically 2000 lbs vehicle. My hop up plans are 250 Chevy rockers, a motorcraft 2 barrel carb on an adapter, and the EFI exhaust manifolds.

The big things about most inline 6s is crappy intake and exhaust . think about a 300 cu inch v8 with a one barrel carb and a poor intake and exhaust. Early heads had ajustable valve train and larger valves If you can find a 240 head it is worth 1/2 point more compression.

I gave serious consideration to buying this when he listed it, but I decided to stay married instead.
