Did it run sometime in mid to late fifties at York US 30 dragway in York Pa?
I was at York about that time and it seems it ran there.

I'd put Jazzy Nelson's Fiat on that short list.

    Hello,

Here is one drag racing build that gave regular FED racers nightmares. Many times, the top eliminator results were taken by the Speed Sport modified roadster all across the country for many years. Picturing two young teenagers fighting to completely read the early Drag News local weekly paper was a scene reminiscent of typical confrontations back then.

Those early photos and stories from the Midwest and Arizona dragstrips were becoming weekly reads, since the photos showed this outstanding drag racing roadster. It was amazing that the Drag News covered the action from elsewhere, other than the local So Cal dragstrips. There were quite a few in So Cal, so the reading was not lacking. But, news from afar was also interesting.

We saw the Westcoast invasion opponents back in December of 1959 at the Riverside Raceway, in Riverside, CA. After strolling through the early morning pit tour to see who was there, we were amazed at the race cars. We came upon the bright orange rear engine roadster we have been seeing and reading about in the Drag News since those early days. That was a find and we were awed by the real live action.

It was a long drive there and back, but, well worth the effort to see the top racers in the USA in one drag race meet.

The feeling when walking around the roadster, the sound when it fired up, and the overall aura of the build, stance and bright orange/red color all make up one of the most prolific race cars in drag racing history. YRMV
