Umm, the first white car is obviously the Pulsator...who's car, what car is behind the red Ford truck..?
Looks like a mid (rear) engine version of the Pulsator.

The last time I saw the "Growler 2" was behind Everett Hatch & Joe Parks shop in West Stayton after one of the Webbs "got a little crossed up" @ Woodburn. Can't remember which one was driving but Twas the end of the Growler 2.
The first Growler was a '41 Dodge of Plymouth with a small block in some MP class.
Again, don't remember which bro was driving but over-staged & got reverse & backed up into the lights.
Didn't see him get back into 1 and when the lights went down, dumped clutch in reverse.
    Completely destroyed the rear end
Took a while to clean the track

I remember the Webb's 41 Plymouth coupe B/MP, was maroon, and ran 12's. we could probably talk for hours, about the races at Woodburn, McMinnville, and Madras in the 60's.

    Hello,

Bobby Langley was one of those “out of state” racers that intrigued both my brother and me. That FED was nicely designed, was very powerful and had the coolest Hilborn Scoop of all time.

The Scorpion was part of the contingent of top drag racers coming out West to Riverside Raceway in December of 1959.

My brother and I had been waiting ever since seeing photos of this full bodied dragster in the local Drag News paper. We were impressed with the build, style and it was that custom scoop on that Hilborn Injection System that made it stand out from the others. When we knew from the stories and ads in the Drag News papers that a big time drag race event was going to happen before the end of the 1959 year, we were all for planning to go to that event.

Our eyes were just whipping back and forth from one old FED to another from the East and Midwest areas. Those were the ones we had not seen locally in So Cal events. So, it was eye candy to see what we had been seeing and reading about for the past several years. There were some modifications to some of the race cars.

But, that was overlooked due to this event being one for the books. Despite the questionable results, it was still a great event that brought all of the top racers from across the country to this big event.

Nye Frank, Bob Muravez and I built this car, the PULSATOR II, using the same engines we removed from the first PULSATOR when it was sold. This digger was lighter and had a longer wheelbase.

    Some more shots...

You sure of the Oct. 9, 1955 date? That looks like a white 56 Chevy outside to the far left and the two cars at the bottom right look later model, too.

The car at the far right (left front fender only showing) looks like a '59 Pontiac. The convert looks like a '60 Chevy.
