@Dan Hay here is a cerakote thread, one of many https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/cerakote.1182961/
Hey @Nailhead Jason , what color is that on the wheels? Coppertone has it's very own cool look, and that color is just about perfect..........
As Highlander said- OEM style chromies ( think chrome reverse) Add a spider cap or not with chrome lug nuts and a 1 inch whitewall ....mmmm- mmmm ...tasty 60’s vibe!
My car has had the rear wheels on it since the 70's the front wheels in this iteration were 60's wheels (14 inch) but to add disc brakes I updated to a similar styled 15 inch wheel.
Actually, I love it! These cars make great taildraggers, but that would be a lot more work and my dad would haunt me from beyond the grave if I did that to the car he built. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Personally, if I had this look right here, I wouldn't change a thing: But it's your car, so.... there's already been a lot of good suggestions. I've always been a fan of Torque Thrusts, they seem to go right on any car. Something that no one else has suggested yet is Cragar SS, here's @39ChevyBob 's coupe w/ Cragars:
My dad mixed it himself 40 years ago. It’s Ditzler Lacquer. He told me he started with Mopar Plum Crazy then put in some black, silver and a couple other things I can’t remember. Thank God for modern paint matching technology for when I’ll need some of it. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
They don’t make them anymore but I’ll definitely keep an eye out. Pate swap meet at Texas Motor Speedway is next weekend. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
They didn’t make them when I put them on the sedan. Found two at a swap meet and two here on the H.A.M.B. I’m sure they are still out there.
Not exactly friendly here. But I still think having a set of “narrowed” vette wheels would be an awesome tribute to tour Dad. Then you’d only have to buy two. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I’m riding the line between honoring dad and making the car like I want it, and I have never liked the Vette wheels. I do know that dad had plans to update the suspension, stance and wheels, and I know he liked Halibrands and Torq thrusts, so while it’ll be to my liking, I’m confident he’d approve of the changes. If that makes sense. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Dan If I may be so bold.......please don't bow to the fully polished new generation Torque Thrust wheels, I know pricewise they are very attractive, quality is there too, but they just have become so commonplace and I think your car deserves better. I bet your dad would agree!
If I went with Torq Thrusts they’d have cast centers and machined lip. Halibrand style could go either way. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I think these are the perfect wheels & tires for my car, which is kinda similar in shape to yours, but somehow the Merc hubcaps seem right on a Ford but out of place on a Chevy: If you stick with WWWs, I'd like painted steelies with some GM poverty caps. If you're leaning toward blackwalls, I think the Torque Thrusts are a good choice (better than Hals, IMO).
What’s the manufacturer of the rear wheels? Trying to find those exact wheels but everything I’m finding the holes and spokes are huge!
