Hot Rods Flathead fan adapter

I blew apart my fan on my 8ba flathead. I was running the oil filled hub. I have ordered a flexalite #417 fan. I see there is a sealed bearing unit available from Mac's but how do you adapt the 4 bolt fan? I read about a lot of people running this fan but I mention or pictures on how it is adapted

 

You never see an electric fan do that, just sayin. BTW, where did the other blade go?

 

I have never seen an electric fan that didn't make me puke in my mouth,hahaha.

 

On an old car an electric fan is a last ditch effort to fix a bad design.

 

Lucky you didn't lose the radiator, I had a stock Model A two blade come apart and it hit the radiator on the way to the hood, was able to repair both but still no fun.

 

Yeah I lost the radiator, 2 hoses, fan, and tore the bolts out of the generator mount.

 

Daily driven I’ve lost two fans over the years.

First one I had no hood on and it launched the blade into a field. No damage to radiator.

Second time not so lucky. Took out radiator and hood side. Running a flexalite plastic fan attached to stock 32 spacer now. Can change to steel stock fan if I ever need to “look” right for a show or something.

And that's why you never lean over or stand in line with a fan on a running engine!

I know a guy who had been working on the top of an engine doing some minor tune up stuff on a 70's car. He had the engine running while he leaned forward and put the air cleaner back on, then put the hood down. Seconds later the fan launched itself through the hood. Yikes, that was close!

 

So how do I go from this hub to a 4 bolt fan. I could get an adapter machined, but maybe there is an easier way?

 

I'm looking to do exactly the same thing. Have seen, but don't know where available, such an adapter that goes on a gen/alternator that allowed the 4 bolt flex fan use. Been looking for a hub set up that does the same. Thinking about building my own. I'll follow this thread, and if I figure out something, I'll add it in.

Could you not drill the four bolt fan with eight holes the same as your old one with the rivets in between the new holes.
