Projects turning a sedan into a coupe 1930

It all boils down to personal preferences when determining the final configurations. A build like this affords an abundance of artistic license for sure just like any other hot rod.
If you look at the model chart you will notice that there is not one that has a front fender extended forward more than the stock tire. You can stand a straight edge up plumb in front of the tire and not touch the fender. Not sure if the fender position would accentuate the "long nose" or not.

Sorry for my absence again folks, had a bunch of different stuff to do for different clients (colour change on an old Land rover.. Paint strip on a splity beetle. And a sculpture for a vineyard in south of France!). All good fun. The client for the rod has bought a space to show his cars so will probably be slowing the pace a bit for a while. Thanks for all the positive vibes.. Always good to recieve.
The projection at the rear of the car is a part that was on the sedan.. The client wanted it on.. It makes it a bit different.. Trying to make it look quirky and therefore original.. The interior is longer than original I think.. I'll measure next time I'm there. Still plenty to do.. The front axle should be arriving soon. Cheers for now xx

Looks pretty good with the fenders. That a good comment from an open wheel hot rod preference guy as my self.

Hey ho.. Back on the cars after furniture and sculpture jobs.. Actually quite missed it so started welding up the rear of the b-side.. And tidying everything up.. Also now it's moved slightly so I get to see what it looks like with the wings on from the rear.. I like it looks like a moustache a bit....

 

Car is really looking good!

 

Front axle kit arrived.. Well most of it.. For no apparent reason we're missing the inner disc bearings.. The pitman arm.. And some other stuff.. They sent the wishbone rear adapter instead of the 4 bar setup one.. A little bit frustrating.. But at least I can tie down the exact position of the wheels to set up the front wings etc.. And it's nice to see the nose taking shape..

Hello.. Back on board with the coupe and firing on all cylinders for a few days.. Sorting out the hood moldings.. The light brackets.. The fender supports and the running boards and that skirt part that I can't remember the name of! Betwen door and running boards.. The engine will go off to the mechanic soon so getting all the stuff positioned ASAP.. Quite pleased.. It seems to gel together as a thing at the moment.. See what you think...

 

"Aprons" is the word you're looking for, for those fillers. Looks good!

 

I notice you have been having trouble with working out the depth of the splash aprons. The easiest thing to do would be to get some cardboard and trace it around a stock Model A valance panel and cut it out. This would give you a pattern from which you would be able to transfer onto a sheet of metal.
You would then trace the pattern around the metal and cut it out. This is one I made up for my model A tourer a couple of years ago.

The bending process is surprisingly easy. You build a wooden box out if heavy duty timber the length of the valance panel and you then get a length of thick walled pipe the same length. You position the sheetmetal directly over the box and push the pipe down onto the sheet metal forcing the sheetmetal inside of the box.

The pipe gives you the desired contour and the box keeps the sides balanced.

Thanks guys xx.. Got the other side sorted and the rear fender slightly widened to mesh with the body.. They were too twisted before and looked odd withe the front fenders

 

The big truck headlamps arrived.. Will need work but I like the a lot...

 

Any updates? Interesting to see, I’m also turning a Sedan into a Coupe.
