  1. HUGE DEUCE COLLECTION HEADED TO THE AUCTION

Gene Hetland of Northern Minnesota is the proud owner of Deuceheaven—a truly astounding collection of approximately 20 variants of the celebrated 1932 Ford and a host of related spare parts, memorabilia and Road Art items. He’s been an avid fan of the 1932 Ford since he was just a kid, and his first car was a Ford Deuce that he ultimately turned into his first Hot Rod. The appeal of the ’32 is nearly universal, both for its simple and stunning exterior appearance as well as its innovative V-8 engine. With Hetland’s Deuceheaven Collection now set to join the 34th Original Spring Classic lineup, it’s an opportunity for bidders to experience that appeal for themselves in Indy this May.

  12. The man has a love affair that is unmatched by many. Whether he has money or not, he could have spent it on many other items. I saw the announcement of this going to auction earlier this week. I would have liked to have talked to him to see what drove him to this collection. :)

  14. Gene Hetland collects and restores 1932 Fords, parts, and memorabilia. lives in the cold, liberal state of Minnesota. I have been doing this since I was fifteen years old. Now I am a
old, cantankerous, 100% blue blood Norwegian.

  16. Old and cantankerous you say? I find that very difficult to believe. But then I’m a little Norwegian, a little German, a little Irish and a little Scottish. Which is to say I’ve been called crazy more than once.

A few years ago I emailed him out of the blue since we were going to be in town visiting another hot rod shop. He welcomed us into his garage (more like a museum), as well as his home and gave us the full tour. He didn't know us from Adam, other than we were fellow 32 Ford owners. He was not cantankerous, but quite the opposite. Even let me touch the roadster pickup. His collection, as well as his home and shop, would be envied by anyone. I wonder what he's going to put in his basement showroom once the cars are sold?
