No this isn't a thread about flexing your arm muscles. I was checking out different exhaust pipes here and was looking for those short pipes that end half way under the door which i always thought were called Belflower pipes, but they aren't. So i thought what about a thread dedicated too exhaust pipes. So show us your Lakes pipes, Belflower tips, Straight pipes, and those one's that go up the side of the pick up box etc. etc.
I always thought the ones like are on @Moriarity 's vette were Bellflower tips, but i guess i was wrong.
Here's mine: Cutouts in front of door. Tailpipes run over the axle then outboard to flow along bottom of frame rail.
Well according to this OLD ad they were called LAKE PLUGS back then posted by @302GMC here: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/vintage-shots-from-days-gone-by-part-2.1154030/page-1148 post 34425
I always liked scavenger pipes. They especially looked nice on 55-57 Chevys and 50s and 60s Fords with extended shackles.. There was this 61 Ford that used to come down our street every day at 5pm. The owner worked at the Bearls auto parts (Pittsburgh). It looked so cool going down the hill in a second gear downshift with the coolest sound coming out of those chrome scavenger pipes. The extended shackles were black. The car was butternut yellow with black interior. I think it was called a Starliner and had the name going down the thin section of the roof pillar it was Fords Bubbletop. It had chrome reverse wheels with white lettered Firestone 500 tires.. It had a 406 with a four speed, I think he changed it to a three speed because he kept blowing transmissions. Man what a car!! I used to sit and wait for him to come down the hill every day. If I wasn't there my dad would alert me that that kid with that hot Ford is coming down the hill..
