Technical Element Fire Extinguisher - who said there is nothing new under the sun?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Mar 6, 2021.

  1. I have contacted the U.S. dealer, and he has sent me the contact details of someone here who sells them. I rang, and left a message, I'm still waiting........

Yes. They are not USCG approved, yet.

The only potential problem I can see would be that of a fire in an elevated wind situation where the velocity does not appear to be as great as a traditional fire extinguisher?? I'm ordering 2 myself though.

Just think of the mess it would save if the fire was in your garage. Might even save your shop/ house from burning down.

I see tons of advantages. Are there any downsides compared to a traditional extinguisher?

  15. Thanks for this, Danny - I ordered two - one for my little camper and another for whatever hotrod I am driving at the moment. Besides their better fire fighting ability, they are nice and small/light. No more big bottles sliding around!

Only downside I see is there is no trigger. You set it off and you have 50 seconds to work. That said, I just ordered one for my '40. All of my other cars have a conventional extinguisher, but the chrome ones cost even more than this and this will fit in the glove box.

  18. Just got one the other day. It would be interesting to know how much their sales went up because of this thread.

I ordered two of them. Mounted one of them in the Cyclone yesterday. I also have an ABC sodium bicarbonate unit between the seats.

Sounds interesting, but it doesn’t seem to shoot very far. Each video I watched had the person pretty close to the fire - not sure that’s where I’d want to be. The small size is intriguing though.

For reference, a 2 1/2 lb dry chemical extinguisher that many of us carry (me too) lasts about 10 seconds. A 10 lb one lasts much longer and has a much greater discharge rate, but few of us lug those around in our cars.

Most CO2 extinguishers are very large, very expensive, but are great tools.

    30+ years as a firefighter.
