Ha they served “kiwi” lamingtons after dinner last night smothered in chocolate sauce. Off to Wigram Air Force base today for an inside car show. A boys bus trip and a girls bus trip.
I'm enjoying the ride, is that a lotus cortina? Many thanks. Sent from my KOB-L09 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
A few of the car inside the museum hanger. Only 97 cars due to size of the actual Rod benders club rooms where the event was held. But that was perfect size to get to know most folk there . Rod Benders put on an awesome weekend event.
We went on a bus trip to a few speed shops and body shop and muscle car show room yard , some prices were a little eye watering while others seemed quite reasonable.I think i will “steal” the shed inside a shed idea for our new shop. The old shed was inside a panel shop and used by a neat old style pinstriper .
I so wish I could have made it down. I'm an ex Rod Bender and know they put on great events. Is that Wayne's 'Delray' shop? I've heard about it but not seen it. Glen.
The request from Rod Benders was period clothing. I found my Dads old kiwi army home guard uniform from 1942 , the rest of our crew were similarly attired.very fun night thanks to Rod Benders.
Off early Sunday to the monthly breakfast run by Kustoms. What a huge turn out of anything with wheels . Apparently 800 cars is normal . Huge variety there so I narrowed it down some . The red Mercury Ambulance maybe sure is an odd shape. Very cool rides there.Windy as all heck with the dry Canterbury north west wind doing its best to blow sand and pine needles into every crevice. Fantastic breakfast event. Note the white Jaguar pickup next to the maroon 32 roadster, Mk1 zephyr and Mk2 convertible , 37 Ford coupe Ute.
On the Easter Sunday after the big breakfast we toured outside the city out to Diamond harbour , for game and lunch ,too hot for serious games. We left early and were a little late getting back as it took a while to diagnose a fault on one car with fuel issues. The fuel pump rod had worn short. A passing rodder offered to get a trailer and take it back to get welded up. That was a 3 hr round trip. Prize giving was a blast as our traveling buddies attending their first Pre 49 event in a nearly all home built car , built with skill and passion . The maroon 30 model A coupe, took out top Rod of the event. One pic shows 9 of the top 10. Came across a few vintage Big rigs heading home to the north Island.
Bryan what a great weekend & thanks for the great pics. I was not aware of the collection you were fortunate to enjoy. Lots of great cars. Your mates Caddy powered A deserves all the credit it gets. Unexpectedly I love that MK2 Jag Ute. I also have a pic of it outside my friend Jan’s Butcher shop down in Lawrence.
