Wondering if anyone can ident this cowl. Was in pile of 31? lasalle stuff. Is not lasalle of any year i can find.
Not Pontiac or Studebaker they don't have cowl bands and their cowl lights are above the belt line. That sweeping body line on the cowl is very distinctive, looks like 1928-29 LaSalle.
I believe you nailed it Jim, I was looking at the shape of the hood, that carried over from 28 to 29, I totaled missed the placement of the cowl lights. HRP
Good thoughts, but they dont have the detail on the side. Thanks the under hood shot sure looks like the firewall on mine. Maybe different model?
1929 Lasalle also had side cowl vent , the OP's doesn't I guess if the cars had side mounts, it didn't get side cowl vents. order without side mounts it did?
take a step back, I was wrong about Pontiac not having cowl band. It looks like it is a 29 Pontiac - 6 series. it has the matching body line on the cowl, forward mounting cowl lights, matching cowl band and the body bead work on the firewall matches also. https://www.mecum.com/lots/CH1019-389302/1929-pontiac-sedan/ https://forums.aaca.org/topic/310814-1929-pontiac-6-29-two-door-sedan-sold/ Watch video
Interesting the Olds from 28 and 29 also had the same cowl treatment but much wider feature at the cowl band. The old also had a belt line that came in play. Possibly and Olds , not likely
A bit searching shows that depending on the exact model all 29 Pontiacs are not exactly alike when it comes to some of the details. From looking at this page there were three generations of 1929 Pontiacs The New Series” 6-28 models that was produced from July 28. ntroduced in January 1929, the New Big Six series 6-29 made it to the new car shows and then in August the 6-29A Big Six; came out. 1929 Pontiac (earlytimeschapter.org) Searching though 29 Pontiac adds on restored cars says that a lot of those dealers didn't give the details on what exact model of 29 Pontiac they were advertising adding to the confusion.
