Just NO ONE you guys be wearing those "Daisy Dukes"; my eyes, my eyes!!! I've seen several different ways guys use to connect "mismatching" steering column parts in the Tri-Fives, anything from welding, to cross bolts, to the reinforced rubber flex coupler (name slips my mind at the moment); RAG JOINT!!!!! It just came to me in a flash of light and burning lava. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

  2. Ok there was a post somewhere that i bragged about my $20 sending unit. I officially want to withdraw that. Steering box done, figured i better see what's up with the gauge. Checked with the ohm meter, nothing. Jacked up the car, drained the tank below the sending unit, pull it, and the cover with the rheostat in it was about halfway off. Plus the float was full of gas  fixed the cover and crimped the tabs good, but the float has a crack in it. Guess it's a trip to the parts house to dig around.

  4. I've got some corks from a 37 Chevy sending unit laying here, but they're pretty rough looking.

  5. You wanna know the funny part? I bought the new sending unit, and it had a plastic float. I threw that sucker in the trash and used the brass float from the original unit. Freaking genius i tell ya. Wiley P. Coyote, super genius  time will tell, but i took the cork float that was laying on the bench, and stuck it in there, it's working now. I'm probably just gonna order a new sending unit from classic industries. Play with old cars they said, it'll be fun they said o_O

  7. I thought about it, but when i squeezed it there was a shit ton of cracks. Looks like it had water in it and froze kinda stuff.

But you forgot to remove the column shifter!

  15. Yep, no manual going in this car, the 4 speed is going in the El Camino gasser.

Richard Rawlings likes green, a lot! Personally, I think the car would look better raised up a little. And nobody has said anything about your sign, or maybe I missed it, but that'll get you a few points with the boss. So green it is?

  27. Yeah, like Butch said, neat trick with the billboard.
Paint the car like that and you can call it Evil Green!
