Projects 60s Model A Coupe on Deuce chassis 392 Hemi

  1. If you do add that foam, dont be shocked if your engine runs real rich at wide open throttle. That stuff is rear restrictive to air flow.

It’s the little things that turn weeks into months. That and SLOW shipping.

Clutch slave and mount. I used a slave out of a 57 F-100. I had to machine and tap the side of my Ansen blowproof bell to accept the mount.

also had to redrill my flywheel to accept 1/2” bolts

    Very nice!

For your carb scoops, maybe look into an open cell foam. I've used this on bikes and vintage chainsaws without it melting or running rich. I usually soak mine with some motor oil or K&N oil to capture the dust etc. similar to a lawn mower filter. It might sound silly but I saved a couple chunks of eggcrate open cell foam from the last Henry rifle I bought just for air filer elements on vintage chainsaws that I can't find air filters for anymore. Might take some playing around with some screen mesh to keep it in place but if it'll work on a bike at 9,000 rpm I'd think your Hemi should do alright. My vintage Case 446 riding mower gets HOT under the hood and has a foam cover over the paper element, doesn't melt, breathes just fine. Just a thought . . . .

Remember these things? They effectively gave you zero performance improvement but used a foam element.

Great work. Puts mine to shame. I just was working on my bulkhead. How did you seal the sides of the bulkhead to the quarter panels? I plan a fitted piece on each side but can't see how you did it in your pics.

I'm apparently over the mountain from you to the west.

I used a couple fitted pieces. I planned to make it all removable, but I caulked it (fireproof). So I’ll likely never remove it.

Feeling like a 16 year old with a new license. Stopped long enough to take a few photos. 2 years in the making! A couple things need tweaking but overall I’m pretty happy with it.
