  1. Yeah Dave is right, i buy universal locking rubber. The zipper style. I use it for heavy equipment when i cut glass for them and the old gasket is destroyed or weathered

  2. Thank you Lloyd. I hope this helps as you are the glass expert.:D

  3. Now wait a damn minute! Nobody ever said anything about expert o_O i can tie my own shoes and wipe my own butt! :D

    Hello,
Just received a sample of P/N 40-0096-99 gasket from Steele Rubber Products for my White 3000 project. It is the exact same profile! Web site shows $8.59/ft.

I already installed it because I am in a hurry to get this thing road ready. I was comparing that part # with my remnants and it is really close if not perfect. If I have to do it again I'll definitely order some.
I used a sticky rope that was made specifically for windshield installs. Haven't had a problem with tilting the cab and its air tight. I will fill in the remaining gap with some sort of black silicone. Only regret is I wish the windshield was an 1/8" bigger all the way around. I'll install some safety tabs to make sure it doesn't move and come into the cab with the force of the wind. It feels really secure so far and I like the lack of rubber from an aesthetic point of view.

I've been roadtesting the new tcm930 transmission controller. So far I have gears 1,2 and 3 but no 4th or torque converter lock up yet. I have to keep messing with the parameters to get everything to read correctly. It drives really well up to 45mph but runs out of steam with the 5.13's and 38" tires and no OD.
BUT, we are starting to build the new shop and house on Monday so it may have to wait til late summer for me to finish the tweaking of the trans controller. I was hoping to use the White to haul lumber but it's just not quite there yet. I'll be able to drive it to the new shop but probably won't utilize it just yet.
Here's the new shop pad so far... pouring concrete tomorrow. 30x50 main shop and a 26x24 2 car garage on the side to put my finished projects plus a tall rv parking spot in the back where the camp trailer and White can be under cover. The house will have its own garage but its across the creek away from the shop. Gonna build a dirt ramp so I never have to use my car trailer ramps or the White's ramps when I'm at home. The view will be amazing.

If you dont seal the edges well on the glass it will start delimitation rather fast . Just be safe , Glass flying into the cab at 40 mph can be hazardous to ones sight .

Good luck with the house. Lumber is crazy high. I went to get a half sheet of half inch osb and
Lowe's wanted 22 bucks for it. 2x4 pretzel style are 9 bucks each. 5/8 plywood fuggettabowdit. Finish the truck, put the house on hold.

I will definitely seal the edges of the window and install safety tabs to keep it in place.
Yep, lumber prices are ridiculous right now... luckily I still got the thumbs up from my accountant as this has been a year in the making. This is the new shop from Friday to Friday, last week to this week. My dad and I are building the shop while we have a contractor building the house. The house is a few steps behind still.

A buddy needed help moving a parts car outta the garage on a slope. Decided to take the White so we could use the winch. I messed with some of the transmission settings and managed to get 4th gear and lockup on the way there. Its not shifting great but it's the first time I've found 4th. Truck did great otherwise. Little bit of bump steer but I still have a little tweaking to do. Might need a 2nd set of shocks on the front end because it wallows a bit on the big bumps.

Trial by fire. Needed to move some stuff to the new property so I figured why not load up the White and go for it! 80 degrees in traffic and going all the way across town wasn't fun but it did great. Temperature got up to 210 but I'm not sure how accurate it is. There may be an air bubble in the system too. I'm still manually shifting but it works good enough to limp it along.

Testing out the 4wd in a bigger environment and it did great.

Finally got to park inside! Tons of room compared to my old shop.

Took a bunch of kids on a hay ride type of tour of the property. 4wd works great!

Shop is getting close to being done or at least to usable. The White has been living inside for the last few months. Planning on going to a RatRod show 30 miles away in September with my dad's truck on the back so it needs the transmission controller figured out before then. Figuring on ordering some 10' aluminum ramps as soon as our house closes. Moving to the property in 2 weeks so I'll be able to start working on it again. 20210730_135004.jpg 20210730_140302.jpg
House is coming along too although it won't be done til January.

Moved to the property on Monday. Finally got the White dug outta the shop so I can work on it. Had to empty the car trailer so I couldn't help but pose for a pic. That's a 46 gmc I picked up the other day. It was in our big forest fire last year but the cab didn't get touched and it looks like the 235 straight 6 could be a runner as well! Front sheet metal is otherwise torched. Don't have a plan yet, either yard art, rat-rod or get it running and sell it.

If you build it they will ... dance? 1 extra glass of wine and my wife thinks I built her the world's most expensive stage! She paid for it, she can do whatever makes her happy!

  20. Overall look of the truck and the stance. You nailed it. The wheels look proportionate in both the front wheel wells and under the flat bed.;) Yes. Moving and all with the new house. Make sure the wife stays happy and has a release which apparently she found.:D

1960/61 chevy led tail lights wired for sequential. My first car was a 60 el camino so this is a little tribute to it.

Bought some 10' aluminum ramps rated at 5k per axle. My existing ramp lip needs a little tweaking but these should work nicely and the dimples are a nice touch. Not sure how to store them yet, it'd be very difficult to sink them into the bed, there are a lot of crossmembers under there.

I am having troubles with where to store my ramps also.
I am thinking of using the side stake pockets and setting the ramps
vertically as 'side panels'. (obviously some type of attachment mechanism)
on your truck, the aluminum sides (proposed) would not look out of place with the
    shiny wheels and tool boxes....

Yep, thought about doing something similar. I do want a stake pocket type of system so I could haul loose debris on there too.

  25. Rub rails would be optimum. Although time consuming in the fabrication and welding they are very universal and while giving a place for standards they also offer excellent tie downs.

A little peak at the next project... this will be my dad's truck. On the way over there I finally figured out the transmission controller and I now have all 4 gears! Got a bad vibration/ hop at around 55mph but it could just be the tires aren't balanced or aired up all the way. May also be the front axle needs a shim, I'll drive it more and figure it out. Either way it was a success getting it to shift properly!

What are the plans for this one? Another 4WD?

Lol, the frame was the lighter duty lower version and had a big c notch from the factory. It was clearly overloaded and cracked/ welded repeatedly at the c notch where it was thinner than the rest of the frame. Also one of the rear hub bearings was fried and the axle was half disassembled. He lopped it off and welded part of a f450 frame and axle on there to make it a roller.
He wants a lighter duty version of mine, I'll probably body swap it onto a modern chevy of some sort. 2wd 6.0 LS- 4l80 dually on bags. He wants it low so he can throw his motorcycles on it. Completely different direction than mine which will make it interesting.

Drove it to a friend's house and took my wife in it for the 1st time. Besides it being really loud it drives great, love the 60 Chev lights at night!

  30. Is the truck wide enough to require it to have all of the DOT marker lights or does your state not enforce those regulations on older vehicles like yours? The current tail lights are bright. Are there LED bulbs in them?
