Something different form me the next few weeks ..........I came across some sketches I did back in Junior High. I think most are HAMB friendly......don't judge too harshly, I was only 14 years old. Images were originally from a Mouse catalog.

DLRA Lake Gairdner 30 ans 2 weeks ago (watercolour). Valiant/Barracuda mesh concept sprung into mind at last week's 'ALL CHRYSLER DAY'. Threw it together when I got home.

and rusting away in their climate.SAD

    Hello,

During the late 50s and early 60s, the hot rod roadsters we saw were usually found in car shows that popped up all over the So Cal landscape. From neighborhood events at shaded parks, to the huge local Municipal Auditoriums across the whole So Cal area, the roadsters were found there and not on the street as daily drivers.

For one, no one wanted to leave their open roadsters sitting on the streets or parking lots. There was no way to

lock up the valuables and the access to the ignition is readily available. So, tarps were used, but the sightings were sporadic. No one in high school had an open roadster, especially as a daily driver. All or 99% were sedans or coupes.

But, for those that think traditional was flatheads and open roadsters for daily drivers, for us, that was not the case. All of the old coupes and sedans had the new OHV motors. It was hard pressed to see a Flathead motor, unless looking under my old 1940 Flathead powered Ford Sedan Delivery, that was not by choice, either.

So, here is a modified street legal roadster in the early 60s for street cruising on Friday/Saturday nights. For those that remember being pulled over in a lightweight roadster without fenders, the limit was 1500 lbs. Lets say this roadster was 1450 lbs. to stay legal.
