Made a little more headway with a new video dropping today. My buddy went on vacation . We are little behind on the videos. We did a lot of filming at the Word of wheels this weekend . Trying to keep them in order.

The show went great ! A lot of kind words and heard some new stories about the car . Had it sitting within an inch or two of ride height I was looking forward to walk around it to check out the stance and wheelbase (location of front axle) I am very pleased and going to move forward as.

After the World of Wheels show last weekend we lined up the Omaha Coupe with Lincoln, Nebraska's Tim haith's 33 Ford Hot Rod 3w that he built all himself. He chopped his close to 2.5 inches. It was cool to put them side by side . 159971539_127345186061931_3102275943161441798_o.jpg 160157462_127345189395264_1259616491222198915_o.jpg 160300759_127345196061930_2220926192942851174_o.jpg 160569421_127345182728598_1739992826222181438_o.jpg 161783616_127345192728597_6943442635781972609_o.jpg 162069352_127345176061932_8524009017874749523_o.jpg

Great frame rack video tdog. I had to completely rebuild mine also so I know what your into.
I went to Wescott also for their frame drawing, they are on line now. Mine was pretty close to being in rack (1/4" out),so no sweat. The center cross member though was no where to be found so I made one and extended it to the main rails just for S & G's. I cut my own boxing plates and welded those in. Ground all the welds also having delusions of grandeur thinking I was Foose or Bariss at the time. I had to "C" the rear main rails of course to install a rear cross member to get it sitting right, then rebuild both main rails for enough strength. All and all it came out ok for the girls I go with.
I sure am anxious to see how a body looks sitting in this when its complete. I'll PM you a couple of shots of it as it isn't exactly within the HAMB rules. For me it was a true labor of love being a former fabricator (retired and changed occupation), in the iron worker trade.

34 Larry, Thank you for reaching out,. I would be very interested in seeing your photos. I am looking for ideas on the center crossmember. I Just got finished sweeping the frame. At the "A" post area of the frame I kicked it up the front 4" and kicked it up 9" in the back of the frame into the trunk floor area. I am also planning on boxing the frame in these areas. Thanks for giving the video a watch. Its nice to hear someone besides a family member is actually watching. lol

  14. Good save on the frame! My frame came out of Burt Burns' 33 [he went to a street rod chassis] and it was within 1/8th inch. I still haven't made it out there yet but been driving the wheels off my coupe. If you get time could you PM me the address and siri and I'll make it out tomorrow night if that works, I'll bring my coupe.

I believe that amazing photo was taken it 1955 in KC the first race at the new drag strip . It is my understanding that the coupe took Top Eliminator that day . Thanks for sharing

  21. I cruised my 34 over to T-dog's shop this afternoon to snoop at all his cool shit. BS'd awhile about the car and the new engine [he'll tell you guys about it] and then spirited him away to take a spin in the 34.
He'd told me his coupe had been in an old 8 MM film and I told him I have a DVD copy of it....somewhere. Came home and found the old DVD and played it to see his car in competition at an air base about 50 miles from town. The film was shot in 1954 and there is some more shot in 55. The early footage shows the coupe in fresh black primer with wide whites, very sanitary. The 55 footage shows the car either all dirty or possibly shot in gray primer with dirty black walls on it. Either way the car was bustin off with all the other local hot rods and stockers..great stuff!
I'll let Tom make a copy of the DVD and he can show whatever he wants. Was a fun day.
BTW, T-dog brought his camera along when we cruised around in my coupe. I'd love to see some of that.

0DD97F0C-2AD0-430D-9763-E0B3D65A4938.jpeg The Omaha Coupe in 1957 . After showing this photo to 84 year young Bob Shukart who helped install a SBC in 1956 he thinks this photo from 57 still has the SBC with that exhaust configuration. He believes this was shortly before the original big Olds Engine was reinstalled and the car was painted in grey primmer for its last trip to Bonniville. Awesome project.

A friend told me he'd be willing to bet the color came from the Great Northern Railroad. Their paint scheme used Pullman Green and Omaha Orange.

It’s my understanding your friend is correct . When Bill Hanna purchased the car from Howdys William in late 58 or early 59? He took the car to the Rebels of Omaha car club garage. . It sounds like there was a City of Omaha maintenance garage nearby . City of Omaha city trucks are painted Omaha Orange . A club member got his hands on some extra paint . The car was painted orange and then hand lettered the Orange Crate on each door snd possibly under the rear window .
