Is there anywhere I can buy new Stromberg 97's at a reasonable price? Thanks!

  2. New Strombergs cost what new Strombergs cost.;)

    What does 'reasonable' mean?

Uncle Max will treat you right. Great parts and service.

Depends in what's "reasonable" to you. They can run $400 to $600 for a new or rebuilt one.
I'm sure you already checked Speedway for a new one?
Used ones are all over the place.

Whatever they cost was reasonable enough for me. I ordered 3 brand new Strombergs from Clive in England through Uncle Max.

I had them custom paint finished and the level of support from both Clive and Uncle Max was worth more than the cost of the carbs.

Outstanding carbs and outstanding people to deal with.

For pictures and the whole story on how much they helped me with my carbs and how they went to great lengths to resolve a problem that arose see my thread on refinishing my Y block intake manifold.

  6. The Speedway product is not a Stromberg 97.

Clive's product is second to none and well worth the money.

  8. There are some questionable Stromberg look a-likes for sale on E-bay. The price is very cheap, and probably so is the quality. Either buy the carburetors from England, or send your originals to Uncle Max for the best re-builds that you can get. Here is Uncle Max's e-mail address, < [email protected] >

  10. Call Hanford Auto Supply. I give a good deal on multiples and can drop ship then anywhere in the US.

We know this. It's a replica model. Still looks and operates in the same manor.

No actually it’s not the same. They definitely don’t operate the same.
Poor quality castings and terrible quality in general.
    Put in simple terms junk.

Which will probably be most of the time.
A real bargain, especially when you find out that trying to rebuild them is as much a waste of time as buying them in the first place.

Why do people still think these things (9 Super 7's) are OK?

Don't they use the "Search" function"?

Maybe because guys like Flathead Dave keep posting their look the same and work the same nonsense.

Funny thing is that I had one and it worked fine. Some other's that I know have them and they work fine for them.
    I'll stand by them anytime.
I also buy from Harbor Freight.

I paid about $5 for a rebuilt 97 a few years ago. It was at an auction in a small town with a NAPA selling off obsolete stock. Just the right place at the right time.
