We are heading to bonneville next week and we are going to stay in reno. We want to stay at a small hotel with the parking right out front of our room. hopefully some where near downtown, and some what safe. If you guys know of any place like that please let me know. A name and number would be great. we are going to have a pretty good pack of hot rods, maybe 7 or 8. thanks for any help.
Hey bro...I used to live there, and I would suggest the Peppermill. They have a brightly lit parking lot with security guards.....not that security guards make ya feel any better, but you can likely get a room where you can see your car or cars. Brian from our CC stays there on his way up to Bonne... OR you can stay in the old "motor lodge" section of the Atlantis where you can pretty much park right next to your room.... Hope that helps
most of the casinos will be hard to see your ride from your room. the Atlantis old part would be cool prolly. i'm 2 hours north on I80. going to bville too. if you wanted to come this far, Winnemucca, i could hook you up at my aunts motel. it's super clean small and you can damn near park in your room. cheap too. let me know. [email protected] haven't been on the HAMB much, too busy. but i check this all the time. let me know. ruralrod
thanks guys, we definetly don't need to stay at the casinos. Ruralrod, your aunts place sounds like exactly what we are looking for, but in reno. I will see if the rest of the gang wants to go the extra couple ours, thanks for the offer. thanks again guys
I'd would have suggested one of the MANY small hotel chains- Motel 6, Holiday Inn, etc., but I doubt ANY of them will have a room until after Sunday night. Just had an aunt come in last week and they couldn't get a room anywhere then because of Hot August Nights. May I suggest Carson City? It's only 30 minutes south of Reno and guaranteed to have much cheaper rooms and availability. And definitely be able to fit a lot of cars in the lot and watch them. I'd say Carson is a much better place to stay. If you're going to Bonneville, Fallon has many hotels and is a nice quiet town as well
There are at least 8 of us with hot rods. and bush, we are not looking for this weekend, which is hot august nights we will be there the next week on thursday and coming back on tuesday. thanks again for all the help
in that case, there will be plenty to choose from with views to the cars. Let's see, as far as good affordable rooms in parts of town without theft worries, there's a place I'm thinking of on South Virginia called the Meadow Wood Courtyard, There's a La Quinta Inn kind of by the airport on Market, a Days Inn by the livestock center and, wow, that's all I can think off the top of my head that has very low pedestrian traffic and parking in front of rooms. And each should have sheltered parking from the views of anybody walking by. Reno's few hotels with direct car access tend to be in bad parts of town. I shouldn't say bad, but not something I would want to contend with. Let me know if you need phone numbers or anything
I stayed at the Days Inn, Wells and Seventh, right off I80 a couple weeks ago cars 20 feet from your rooms, Mark
yeah, that's the one, Wells, and 7th, near the Livestock Events center. Also saw one cruising last night that was in a good part of town with direct car access, it was the Vagabond Inn on South Virginia next to Famous Murphy's. Maybe not a GOOD part of town (are there any in Reno?) but parking spaces obscured from street view.
you might as well go the extra couple of hours past reno...at least then you will be about halfway or more to the salt! Does anybody have some space for a couple of leaf springs? I need to get them to Bonneville. Also if you know anyone heading out there with a truck,BenD needs a cab hauled out this way from Bonneville. I may even make it myself but it's not looking good right now!
Hey brewsir, I wish we had someone driving a truck, then we wouldn't be packing our cars to the gills. But everyone wants to drive their hot rod, and we don't know anyone else that just wants to drive a truck. And thanks for all the tips on the motels guys, this place is great.
