    Hey John,
Birthday in March... in fact this week end !
This beats hell out of covid Christmas.
Going to need set of pistons , an oil pump and set of head studs. What pistons do you use ?
Q: are you making pumps yet ? Talked to Cliff !

  2. Happy Birthday!!
    Pistons, Ross custom design
Pumps, yes, I have a few in the works, just not finding decent donor gear sets. I can use new Melling but the cost is prohibitive.

    Hey John,
Thanks ! Feeling younger every day.. ha.
Cliff used 59 AB units. I would collectthat type for him. He had a box of partially worked pump parts when he quit. Maybe you dont use those tho ?
“all pumps are not the same, even new”...he would say. Then he would show me voids in the cast iron ‘no good’ cases and gears. I should have bought a dozen then. Who knew what was to happen in our lives ! Oh well.
If you get a spare made... let me know. This Burtz will be my last I’m sure. Stipe used to make an aluminum one. I used one many years ago in my Russian B.

Was going to hang the fenders and splash aprons.. hell with it, too much fun driving to work on it...it might get the top put on but that's about it. Too many boulevards to enjoy.. had a cute little filly wink at this old man last night, it gave me a thrill..

  5. Yeah, the pumps Cliffy could make were great, have used many. The supply is drying up and the castings are harder to find.
What I am doing is using the later short pump and making an adaptor to invert the pump.
This solves many issues including the casting issues. Now the issue is finding good gear sets to use.

We're in the middle of a mild cold snap down here, but still warm enough to let my 2nd daughter take me for a drive in old Shade Tree. We had a fine time.

Nah. Hahaa. There's a working speedo in front in front of the steering wheel. We were averaging about 55.

    Hey John,
You are a creative SKILLED builder, indeed !
Looks that you are going to use to the original pick up tube and screen, eh ?
Haven’t seen anyone else with this design. Looks bullet proof.
    What gears/years ?
    Some guys using chev gears.

  11. the pump is 49-53 I think, with gears.
stk pickup can be modified but I like this better...

    Hey J,
I think 49 thru 53 is correct. I’ll look for them.
The early V8 site is where I’ve had luck for CW.
    THANKS
