  13. That is cool. Airplanes or trains with hot rods. Doesn't get any better than that.

    Hello,

Recently, as part of our relaxing pandemic schedule daily, I spend about 2 hours reading. Now that there is a lot of time, it relaxes me and I can cover a lot of different books/authors. I spend the afternoon quietly reading some of our favorite authors. The last book I finished was called the: Creole Belle. The author was/is James Lee Burke. We have read countless James Lee Burke novels and they all are very mysterious. The majority of the stories take place in Louisiana. A small area called Iberia Parish.

Although we would never live there in that climate and hurricane track location, it does have some interesting descriptions about life in that part of the country.

In this Creole Belle novel, a character in the story, caught my attention. She drives a modified pick up truck without much of a description, other than it is chopped, has a Mercury Motor exposed and has a set of Hollywood Mufflers in place. So, that gave me an open market on the drawing of an old Ford pickup truck that I thought would be intimidating, like the girl character.
    upload_2021-3-19_4-1-10.png Hollywood mufflers? How quaint…
While reading and finishing the novel, I could not decide whether it had Moon Discs or just painted wheels. So, the choice is/was up in the air.

MERCURY POWER? Could be a Flathead or an OHV MEL motor.

All throughout reading this book, two things stuck out in my mind. One was the chopped truck and the other were hot Beignets.

They were two things that just would not go away after finishing the 2 hour reading period. I wanted to draw a chopped truck and eat those cool looking snacks. So, I finished the truck(s) after I finished the book.

The latest book I am reading is another James Lee Burke book called “Light of The World.” It is the next book in the series.

Again, the chopped truck plays a part of the young girl’s lifestyle.

The grammar is one long paragraph, so I had to differentiate with the proper sentences. It was not my style of correct grammar or sentence structure…

This time, there is a clearer definition of what the truck should look like in the story.

“…rolled leather interior, polished woodwork, and high tech gauges on the dashboard. He looked at the heavy tread on the tires and the chrome on the radiator and the Moon hubcaps and, the frenched headlights and waxed 3 layer black paint job. All of which were high end modifications that cost high end money.”

    Winner by default.
