  1. Over on their Facebook page someone is suggesting it maybe going to an online publication.

That would insure everyone, even overseas subscribers, got their copy at the same time, but it's not exactly what folks signed up for. Better than nothing, I suppose, but not like fine books sitting on a shelf. There still needs to be communication.

I've stayed out of this because I had no dog in the fight! I had on more than one occasion thought of subscribing to RJ, but had somehow just not gotten around to it.
Now with all the lack of communication, I'm definitely in a wait and see mode. I suppose an online subscription would be better than nothing, but for God's sake NOT ON FACEBOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That for sure would signal the death of TRJ in my eyes.
The publication has always been an experience that you just can’t get in an online way.

I think I’d rather have it gone completely than have it turn into a digital version.

Danny, I'm willing to take the hit for you. But, checking I see nothing on their website past touting the "upcoming" issue 84 and nothing posted on Facebook since January 3.

I the last few years printing has gotten much cheaper which should have helped any magazine.

I placed an order two months ago today. CC was charged, heard nothing. Emailed them 10 days later, nothing. Tried two phone numbers during normal business hours, no answer, voicemail full. Left a comment on Facebook, nothing. Waited a little while longer, then said screw it and did a CC dispute.

If they're having problems, fine - post something, somewhere. Close the damn site for new orders and say, "Hey, we're experiencing difficulties. Stay tuned." Have a Facebook post. Have an auto answer on phone and turn off VM. But accepting orders when nothing's going on and it's radio silence is inexcusable.

I just had an email but it wasn't from them.... the mystery/misery continues!

  11. Face it folks, the print industry as we knew it is dead. My local drugstore had one of the best news stands in 5 States. a 35 foot aisle with double decker racks going down both sides holding about a guesstimated 300 to 400 titles? I looked the other day after they had remodeled and the new downsized area had maybe 50 titles. Also gone was the softcover books. Many a WW2 book or Western I bought there. My fault, the last one I bought was probably in the 90s

The rodders journal for me was always outside the normal mags, it was a high quality publication and judging by the threads on here the general out cry on social media etc it had a good customer base. Who more than likely would have stomached a price increase to keep it going.

Months of failing to deliver paid for products and lack of communication, despite all the excuses of covid, post and economy just screams of poor management/business practice.

  13. Oh for sure TRJ was a premium product but it shared those same news stand shelves. I actually PREFERRED going to the store to buy it. I could chose the cover and not have to worry about our horrible mail lady wrecking my sub.

I’m in the uk, finding the rodders journal in a news agent would be a religious experience, it’s always been a subscription/specialist only product

Don't have a dog in this fight, but when Ryan and Pat Ganahl sound worried, I'd be worried myself. Stuff happens, could be sickness or death of the main guys or some of their family, but it looks like they would put up some kind of notice that things were on hold and would cut off any payment acceptance for the time being. Hoping for the best for you guys that have a lot invested.

  16. That would suck. Nothing like going to the big bokstore, getting a big coffee and sitting down with your new issue for a few minutes! I always seem to leave with more than I planned

Except that SRM was big corporation when it shut down and left folks hanging. . We felt TRJ was personal.

Well I didn’t think I had a problem but was looking at my Pay Pal purchase for another reason and lo and behold there was a payment for a subscription in January. I have posted a complaint with Pay Pal so I might get my money back but would rather have the magazine.

Good luck with that. Hopefully you paid via your CC or Paypal.

    BUT....................

After some other HAMB members said they had received a refund (on the post that is now shut) I also asked for a refund.

After some time and dickering, Rodders Journal finally did agree to provide me a refund for my B cover subscription and for tshirts ordered but never received. BUT guess what? ........ weeks later and no refund has ever appeared in my account and now the staff appear to have gone to ground or been stood down?

Unfortunately for me my cc has a time limit for chargebacks. For chargebacks, you usually have to dispute the credit card transaction within 30–90 days of when it first appears on your credit card statement.

As Rodders Journal shipments to Australia take 8 -10 weeks to get here, coupled with the COVID shipping delays and seeing as they always had such a good name with strong support I gave them the benefit of the doubt but in doing so now I am outside of my CC providers chargeback window :(

With all of the activity in this thread and the people trying to get in touch with them at @TRJ
and on other social media platforms I was hoping that we might get an update on what is happening with the company presently.

Or maybe as has been suggested they will just fade away into obscurity and extinction without a sound.

  24. Another magazine that took money for subscriptions but folded after 3 issues I was told one of the people involved with Rodders Journal was involved with that magazine also.

I got the shaft on this one also. HRP

I don't know, but you could probably compare masrheads. It was long time ago-35 years.

I hope you are successful, but, technically your subscription, like any magazine, would take the old "six-eight weeks for processing" and would start with the next issue. If TRJ was on schedule and publishing every quarter, then the earliest you could expect an issue would be April. All fine points, but they could technically argue they didn't owe you---yet. I doubt you'll hear anything and Paypal will credit you back. Sad.

I would contact your CC anyway. IIRC, the only other dispute I've filed was outside the window but they (Discover) still did it. It's worth a shot.
