Hot Rods Full-fendered Model A Header Options

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Ned Ludd, Mar 14, 2021.

  1. I've had Sanderson #C-32 headers on my full fendered '31 Model A since '94. They have worked well with turbo 400, original boxed frame, and Deuce Factory 4-bar with Mustang steering box set up.

  2. Not the best picture but gives you some idea of the Sanderson C-32 headers.

Do those Sanderson c32 headers fit tight to the block and then angle out and back? Patriot headers H8018 and H8039 seen to be the same or similar. Can't tell by most pictures. Thanks, nice coupe!

Just found better pictures of the Sanderson headers, I think that design will work.

  5. Ned; My personal outlook has been when your building a Hot Rod Model A use a Real motor and show it off. Meaning don't hide it under a Hood. If you can build a Chassis, do Body work and build a Car out of worn out Tin then by all means build your own Headers. It's just a part of the Job not a mystery. Then things will fit and work. I have always thought any Model A with a Full Hood was hiding a Boring S.B.C. (I know that's debatable)
My channeled Roadster will be Full Fendered and just a hood top. The headers are all hand built including rolling the Cone so they fit appealing to ME. They drop through the splash apron and will have a cap showing then a 1-1/2" exhaust pipe turn back under the Frame up and into mufflers and out the back. Doing it this way takes the steering, clutch/brake pedals and crossmembers out of the equation.
It's all about Fit and Looks. If you've welded in a patch panel or repaired a floor pan you can build your own exhaust. It's just a decision and a choice.

Love that. Very close to my speculation which gave rise to this thread.
