History Bringing the Dick Williams '27 Roadster Back to 1953

Better put GNRS on my 2024 calendar, hoping they can get the former winners together.

 

Check with "The Early Ford Store in San Dimas Ca I think they have the Kong dist they need.

It's cool that it's being restored back to the AMBR version, but I liked all the different versions of it. They all looked great.

 

Finding this thread made my day.

Just picked up a 27 T roadster, old hot rod with steel body. Almost complete except engine. Needs re-engineering. This certainly gives me ideas.

 

Is that model built by Craig Clemons the same CC that did wood graining in Oakland down on the embarcadero next to Shadetree ??

 

i like the idea of the simple tube chassis but it doesnt look very strong to me , would that not flex ?

I would like to know more about the car on the table. At first glance it seems not HAMB friendly, but that is an Offy. Can't get a more relevant 4 banger than that.

I'm so glad to learn of the Brizio restoration; this car absolutely needs to be as it was in AMBR form. I have huge respect for Dick Falk's taste and work, but this car should have been preserved as it was in '53.

 

I may have seen them before but I never noticed the side roll pans under the body that covers the frame rails. A fantastic look.

Dick would have appreciated this...Stellar Work Team Brizio, @jakespeed55 and @HEMI32...I envision him standing there in Spirit with a warm smile...Truly a Unique bit of Postwar history...Bitta' Wartime Aviation, Bitta' Indy...but All Hotrod...

Dick was quite the Artist...

What did he do for a living...Aviation Engineer or something in that field...

Dick Williams was a member of Berkeley California's "ELMWOOD AUTO CLUB" ... and modified his club's plaque to make the "coupe" a "roadster":



Jack @jakespeed55 Stratton can confirm ... but I believe the Brizio shop has obtained an "ELMWOOD AUTO CLUB" plaque from Dennis @59BuickWagon O'Brien ... and will be installing the (modified) plaque on the car.

In 1951, Dick & his pals in the ELMWOOD AUTO CLUB ran the roadster at Bonneville:
