Not every car looks good sky high, slammed, and everywhere in between. But these cars fit the bill

A couple old pics of my 39 that I've had for about 25 years. It's getting a little tired and long in the tooth . I have a BBC 427 under the bench that has been waiting for a home. Once the coupe is done it will be time to redo the 39 vin - 1 (2).jpg vin - 1 (3).jpg

  7. By my username, I'm obviously a bit biased.
Few of mine. My 38 sedan with the 454 (sold), my old 37 Pickup (sold), and my current 37 Ute DSCF5365.JPG DSCF5356.JPG 37TowingDigger.jpg Bonneville2013-E.jpg

Very nice, did you make your hood side trim yourself?

Very nice car......belonged to a guy named Stierneman (sp?) out of St. Louis I think.
I remember seeing this car at Americruise in Lincoln NE......1997-ish????
But I also saw it at the HAMB drags one year......ran like a missile

I just used the one of the upper or lower small hood side trim pieces and mounted them in the center position...then welded up and dressed the remaining holes.

Since I've been doing a new interior, I intended to use the leftover trim pieces as inner door trim (same length)... but I can't find the damn things!

My mom drove this car almost daily when I was in Jr High and High School in the early ’80s.

  17. I like 38 coupes, gasser style the best, I was looking for a 37 or 38 in the early 90's before buying my truck but couldn't find one. With the availability of the internet I see a few up for grabs but of course I'm out of room for cars now.

I'd agree if you were comparing a 1937 to a 1938, but the '39 is quite different rear appearance to the '37-'38 models!

I remember one of the Hot Rod Magazine staffers had a '37 project back in the 1980's that became a series of stories about getting it up and running and some of the adventures he had with it. I recall one in particular where the state he was driving through closed the road some miles beyond an exit, and he damaged the gas tank trying to turn around.

  20. To a car, all pictured cars set up to race have running boards removed. Is there a reason or to be cool when the car was setup to race?
My favorite has always been the '39 coupe.

Like my 37/38, this car seems to only have the drivers side tail/brake light. Was that the was the Masters were made, Deluxe got the rightside light? Or was it an option on the Master and standard on Deluxe?

I see it has an excess fuel dump...:p

421 ci?...is this a recent image...why do I ask the front Mag...it's where period is sometimes challenging to determine....they look modern...but regardless I'd love the keys to that one that's for sure...
