@swi66 posted this photo, it’s been seen numerous times but today I realized how much the car has a lot of the features of the Black Widow. I wonder if it was the inspiration for the model kit? They added cycle fenders and used a Chevy instead of the flathead but the rest is almost spot on down to the hubcaps.

Spent most of all night going thru boxes of parts and old kits looking for things I want for the 56 build. Yesterday, today or what ever it is ....I got the body all dechromed, I also went online looking for 60 Chrysler taillights and preferably a body, for the part of the rear quarters that I need ....no luck....well there one ,a old promo,,$499 ..ya I'm not that crazy? I did a little experimenting on possibly making some? Did rough one out ....I don't know..dementions are off but I think it could be done...I will search some more. I did come up with a nice set tires and chrome reverse wheels , wheels from a amt Ala kart kit and tires from the amt 65 Riviera kit, I also grabbed the custom chrome steering column with the clear steering wheel from the Riv kit also ....dug out a 54 Chev grill and extra teeth, needed 19 total, got 'm. Nice to have some extra parts. One of my other builds that I started stopped in and was wanting too know when I was going to get back on it...get in line .....crap ..I better go crash...Im talking to my models. Crazy? maybe.... Need some advice on how to use "decal setting solution" please. I've never used it before, but I'm finishing up a '61 Starliner tribute to the late NASCAR Late Model star, Red's Kagle. Do you wait until the decal has kinda "set up" before applying a light coating of the solution on the edges? Any advice is much appreciated as there are lots of decals to be applied. Thanks, Don.
I wet the model with solution where the decal goes then apply the decal then keep wetting it with solution till it lays the way I want it
I will try it that way...I have used it except I applied the decal first ,the usual way, then applied the fluid over it , moved it if needed then brushed it out flat and let it dry. You have to be very careful with old decals sometimes it helps by giving you some time for movement of peices when the old decal starts to come apart...and other times it makes it crumble apart easier, faster. With the decal solvent, you brush it on, get the decal in place and use a bit more if needed to get it to lay down. I've been nursing a bottle for a while as I don't use decals much. I did just try the other evening to put flame decals on bulbous '39 Ford fenders and they just wouldn't conform. I tried two different styles and gave up. It was like I'd have had to slit them in places for them to sit flat on the fender. The solvent works, read the instructions, use a gentle touch and hope for the best. I have Fred Cady decal sheets I haven't used because they aren't individual decals on a sheet. Very careful trimming is involved to eliminate as much of the clear edge as possible. My patience is shot. Older decals...one trick was to lightly spray them with clear to help keep them from falling apart. Again, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
......Yes, he was fortunate to survive. NASCAR wouldn't grant him a Grand National license after his recovery because of his prosthetic leg. He was allowed to race in their Late Model Sportsman series on local tracks (particularly Beltsville and Old Dominion) where he went on to win multiple track championships. A true racer and car builder.

This are some Paleolithic decals! Doesn’t look like anyone has ever issued after market decals for this car so I suspect your only option is to find another kit, preferably the last one popped by Revell in ‘98. Prices are a little high for this one on eBay ($43!) but it includes a 1/24 figure of Linda Vaughn which might make it worth it! Hopefully 22 year old decals would be in better shape than yours (53 yr old?). Good luck on your build.
I’ve been having fun over the last years shelter-at-home period cranking out 1/24-1/25 early ‘60’s super stock drag car builds. This is my latest finished model, Arnie Beswick’s supercharged ‘64 GTO. It’s a 1/24 Revell kit and includes a few 1/25 parts. This was my first attempt at scratch building exhausts headers out of solder. I have a Grumpy”s Toy #1 Nova and Melrose Missile ‘65 Mopar on the bench, I’ll post these when done if anyone here is interested.

The 32 sedan got a minty fresh base coat this week, spark plug wires and a Moon tank. I’ll decide what if any decals to apply, then bury it all in clear. The running boards, roof insert and firewall will be white. A couple more of my 32 builds in the background. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I use this https://www.testors.com/product-catalog/testors-brands/testors/lacquer-paint/lacquer-sprays/ but guys have been having issues with it, like they changed the formula, so when I run out may switch to Tamiya. After the clear I polish with 3M perfect-it 3 stage.
Wow...thats one weathered Willy's. Is it possible the guy that built this "tribute" car is same guy that built the model?
