  5. Just me, but with all that technology on the Harris car,

I lived in Inglewood boardering Westchester but don’t remember the Barons. Fenders kept the Fuzz of you butt in those days.
A 56 Merc Custom was one of the lowest models and to see one today, especially a Phaeton, would really be a treat.

We see Marvin Lee’s “City of Pasadena” at El Mirage in September 1949 getting the once-over from some S.C.T.A. inspectors. The Class B Streamliner was fitted with a 1947 Chevrolet inline-6 displacing 247” that was fitted with a Wayne cylinder head and intake manifold. The car ran 154.63 mph to take a first in class. Roadmasters Club Member Jimmy Khougaz ran 113.92 mph in his blue channeled Deuce at the July 17-18, 1948 S.C.T.A. Time Trials at El Mirage. The 267” ’46 Merc that powered the car was fitted with Offy heads, Weiand intake manifold, Winfield cam, and Wico mag.[IMG]

The girl in that photo to me as a 32 year old man is far more attractive than 90% of what I see today. If anyone ever invents a time machine I’ll be first in line to go back to those decades. Maybe it’s rose coloured glasses as the saying goes or whatever but something about the old days looks so much better.
