Welcome to the World of hot rods !!! My pal has a '35 3-window Chevy, and if he approves, I'll post a picture tomorrow. I am a traditional Ford guy, but I can tell you, the Standard of that era is one of the best proportioned hot rods ever, period. That "short butt", long hood, natural chopped looked, is real tough to beat. My buddies has been on the road for 35 years, as a Street Rod, and he just spent the last couple years turning it into a "Hot Rod". Out with the 350/350 and in with a solid lifter 340 horse 327, four speed, and 411 posi. Fun, fun, fun !!! You will not be disappointed if you build it right.

By the way, San Francisco has been the home of some really great hot rods, and I have no doubt that there are still some hidden away in those little under the house garages. The "Ramblers" club of S.F. had some very cool rides !!

  7. Many thanks for the explanation and the story!!! I"ll love to see pictures of your friends Coupe!
I was really looking at the lines of both and now I realize that there are different opinions about it ... Maybe we exaggerate a bit when we are very fans of one brand or another ... It is a world as you say ... I think that any car can be a hot rod, only passion is needed in the work we put on it. Anything that improves it ...

Chebbies are nice looking cars . The wood was just a killer for me . My Buddy , had a 35 Master at the time I had a 37 Coupe . The wood was a job to replace . I was new to the Hot Rod stuff at the time and could not believe the amount of wood that was in these cars . You have a nice one , great work . Be safe

  13. Thanks for the reply!! You're right about the wood... Would be very difficult to replace it in a complete car.

Hey Ratamahata !! Fortunately, when my buddy bought his coupe, over 35 years back, it was in good shape, and the wood was near perfect, and still is. All of the original wood is still intact. I went for a ride in the puppy yesterday, and it is a sold as a new car. Makes my Model A seem like a rattletrap !! Attached is a picture of the mighty 327 on a dyno..... This '35 is pure "Hot Rod", through and through !! 327 dyno.jpg

  15. yep, the wood really absorbs a lot of the vibrations in the cars. worth the effort to restore/replace/maintain the wood when possible.
