One of the guys I worked with in Orlando Fl owns several Minis and drives them daily. Not sure if he has any of the new ones, we talked about his one's from the '60's

Looks pretty darn cool to me. Love the sound of a six with duals.

My first High School ride 1962 was a 1948 slightly customized jeep. Drove it rain, snow or whatever the weather was because I wasn't riding the damn Bus pics for the hamb 7-18 003.JPG

0FAB0DC9-DB4D-44D8-A854-BA6EA057A20A.jpeg Class of 1968. I drove this all through my high school years and kept it for several years after. Loved this Chevy. Came with a 265 power pack, 3 speed overdrive and 411 gears. All for $50. This was my first attempt at bodywork and paint. Added a Hurst shifter and tach. The chrome reverse wheels were a Christmas present from my parents. I later switched to a 60 over 283 with two four barrels and a flip up fiberglass front end. It pulled great hole shots and ran good 1/8 mile country road matches. By 1968 it would kind of run out of poop in 1/4 when I’d hear the “Beep Beep” and the birds would fly by.

  7. I was class of 92 and must have been having too much fun to take pictures because I can't seem to find any of my high school ride back then but I still own it and it looks pretty much the same as then (repaint in 2001) so here's a picture from a drive a few weeks ago. 39A99CD6-D43D-4C17-AB54-4DD99E5CF135.jpeg Well guys and gals, I must be the last of the Mohicans.

On the right is my stock ‘29A roadster replete with 15” wire wheels, sealed beams, bumper guards, and no soft top, but I had a removable hard top, possibly made by a furnace duct shop!

Bought in 1950 for $95. Used cars were still in short supply and Model A’s were drivers, not collector cars. I parked it on a steep hill a block away from my house in the winter so I could put it in gear and roll the hill and pop the clutch to start it. No heater.

I was 15 years old and had a summer job for $1.01 an hour flagging electric street cars across a railroad crossing. I still have my W-2 income tax form from that but not the car. However, I am a restorer and Motorman today for the Minnesota Streetcar Museum and operate those same cars on our trackage.ll

On the left is Norton Fredlund and Bob Mueller and Norty’s ‘31A with Chopped and padded top.

The next post will show the rest...

No OHV V8’s then, full race pressurized Model B with a ‘28 Multi disc clutch. About broke my skinny leg pushing that clutch. Frame was Z’d, plus body channeled over the frame. Crude bench seat back, wooden bottom, no cushion, no floor boards. Seat belts were my salvation!

Brakes were bought brand new, piece by piece from Ford dealer and NAPA,

Class of 1981. I bought my 55 210 in 8th grade. Paid for it with my paper route money. 44 years later, I still own it.

The first photo is from 1979. The second is from about 1984, and the last is from a few years ago, at The Melt Down Drags, in Byron ILL. The video link is from last year's Glory Days Drag Meet at Byron Dragway.

I had to add an update to my post.
    THIS IS SO COOL.
I was looking through old topics and I stumbled onto a thread titled '65 Corsa resto from several years ago.
After reading the thread I realized that that car was my first car. Very cool to see the car after being resurrected.
My biggest regret at this point is that I found a few YouTube videos of the car running. They could have used my help.
Anyway it was very cool to see her again after all these years.

My duddy in high scool had a 64 Galixie 390 4 barrel with a 3 on the tree. It looked like a little old ladies car but it moved out.
Power shifting that 3 on the tree was fun while it lasted. Had to put a Hurst floor shift in. Good times

I drove a '67 Chevelle. Wasn't my first car (a '40 Ford tudor), but was the one that got driven all the time. Lowered enough to roll a pop can down the street, louvered hood, dechromed, and semi-hopped 350. Here's pics after we dug it out of the barn last year for the first time in 30 years.

In '73 -'74, my High School car was a (OT) '66 GTO. It was in shades of black primer, vertical gate shifter, synchros worn (I wonder why?), bald snow tires, low hot oil pressure, box of engine bolts in the trunk. Raced? Abused? Lots of kids had 60's cars because the Arab oil embargo drove the price of gas up and these cars got poor mileage. It was stolen and stripped the Fall of '75, but it was recovered. I bought junkyard parts to get it back on the road since it was my daily driver. Frame-on resto-mod done in '85 when I had a garage and another car. I still have the GTO today. I like to say that it got newer and I got older. Maybe bring it to my 50th reunion???

  22. Well seeing as I went to high school in 2006-2010, didnt have a HAMB friendly driver. Never took my 33 pickup to school ever, didnt want it in the parking lot. I did have a hot little Z/28 Camaro, not many at school were into cars, I was one of the few that was a crazy gearhead.

Pic isn’t showing up for me. I remember a similar sounding chevelle at Porky’s in the late 80’s early 90’s that was a very dark candy purple. Does this happen to be it?

My pics got removed probably because they were across 65th Street. My car was white, until around 1990 when it was painted pink primer.

My avatar pic is the '31 I bought in '64, as a senior. It had a hopped up banger; B engine, Thomas head, Burns manifold w/2 94's, tube header, etc., ran good but the trans and rear end were not up to my 17 year old driving.

I do not have a better pic of it so I recreated the last time I drove it with the banger.

I came out of the little neighborhood grocery story and some gathered kids said, "can you spin those slicks?" Sure, I said. I dropped the clutch and destroyed the rear end. I put in a 331 Cad with a hydro as shown in the avatar pic. 31 FORD.jpg

'76-'79 HS days, had a 283/3 spd gave way to a 1966 396/400 Turbo 10 bolt posi. Used a Hurst-Herbert BBC kit to make the swap. Still have the kit & Headman headers. Car is long lost to time. 12004743_10207608376677794_3249499511956360673_n (1).jpg
