Totally bad ass. When you look at photos from the past it really hits home why we like this shit so much.
Priceless...quite a few familiar rides looking like a million bucks...wwws were in Bigtime...imagine that... Thanks for sharing this sorta recently acquired collection @Jimmy B...another milestone in vintage Hotrod at my favorite place to be...
Thank you very much @Jimmy B for sharing these great pics. Interesting that most of the hiboys and channelled cars are running cycle fenders and as someone else pointed out most of the street cars have wide whites.
Thanks Jimmy. It’s amazing to see about 80% of them to have wide whites. A lot of flattys during the beginning of the OHV era. More. https://www.google.com/search?clien...i4wLjIuMC4zmAEAoAEB&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-hp
Great pics! Nice way to start my morning. Cup of coffee and perusing car photos from the year I was born. Thanks!
These are from the '54 show (a couple '53). I will try to scan the 1954 Article later and name the cars already posted above.
Thanks, the Bonneville rides look great away from their salt home and all shinned up under the lights!
Hello, Nice find on those old photos. The Pan Pacific Auditorium was in an area that we called home for a long time. Our dad used to take us to the Gilmore Field to watch the local LA baseball team play in the only league that was around in So Cal. Then during the same time period, driving his old Buick sedans, would take the whole family to the Pan Pacific Auditorium for the numerous car shows. He was not a hot rod or custom car guy, but liked his Buick sedans. He said the Autoramas and car shows at the Pan Pacific were the best places around to see new and old cars. When we got hungry, it was not the car show food places, but, just down the street, was one of the best restaurant’s that he liked since his college days. Canter’s Restaurant, Bakery, and Delicatessen was his place and the food was outstanding. During our 60’s time period, my wife loved going up to the Fairfax District and shop. But, our dinners and late night snacks were usually at Canter’s, too. For someone so thin, she was able to down a couple of Pink’s Hot Dogs and chili dogs with drinks during our 20 something days, on other adventures. That place was located just up the street. We were there in this area far from home, but it just seemed like home back then. Jnaki The car shows that our dad took us to were big events for two young brothers. That, I am sure started the whole culture of car shows for us. As we got older, we went to our own shows here in Los Angeles and back in our own Long Beach coastal areas. But, as 10-12 year old kids, it was our first car shows in a long line of shows.
