Checking in from SF. My 'banger build *Marches* on. Oooh. Bolted on the Cragar valve cover yesterday. Next I'll be fixing my cracked intake, setting up the linkage and running fuel lines. Can't wait to fire it up in its new configuration!

Will you gravity feed that carb?

  11. If it was mine I'd run gravity. No need for a pump with the carb sitting below the fuel tank. Ran my Winfield like that with no problems.

Because I live in San Francisco where every street is a hill, I'm running a Holley low-PSI pump that's mounted to the inside of the frame rail.

  13. Jet96, that does look like an early Chevy head under the mods/plates- interesting way to to add 4 exhaust, but I wonder what it looks like inside/under those side plates :D

I really like the 5 speed in the Roadster. I have to re-train the muscle memory and not take off in second gear and run over someone thinking I'm going to back up, when really in first....

I too sent my info to FAST and asked to be part of the gang. Is there a listing for race events like the RPM Nationals & the Santa Margarita Time Trials somewhere? I usually hear about them after they've happened. I'm especially interested in West Coast events.

  18. You'll be informed here ("Jiminy posts the events every month); facebook (Santa Margarita Ranch Time Trials) and the F.A.S.T. Newsletter (if it's able to fly)!

I get confused sometimes when I drive several different cars in a day. Between the T-5 in the coupe, a standard 3 speed in the roadster and '30 chevy, 3 on the tree in the 50, 4 on the tree in the Benz and then flipped over and backwards in the 2 early Buicks, I have to stop and think how to shift them. HAHA. Lucky Ts arent hard to remember how to shift.

Ts are hard to drive between the pedals being super close, my size 13 shoe and being tall and big around I can barely fit into some T's and and cant fit behind the wheel of some. I had to give my son a driving lesson so he could test drive one I was working on.

  24. Speaking of T's, welcome this one to the stable!

It's setup for a banger, so it's staying banger powered!
This frame used to belong to Joe Gemsa at one point..
I gotta figure out the steering situation, as it'll be center steer.

Checking in from UT waiting for the new driveway to get poured so I can get the roadster out. Went to drive it the other day and it had another dead Optima battery. Since the last time it went dead the battery was disconnected so its a battery problem, not a parasitic draw. Good news is that Summit sent a new one at no charge and doesnt require the old one back. Nice guys.

  27. Supplied a few old shock parts to a friend of mine who runs a machine shop across the way from work. Been following the project since then. The first prototype was run on a metal shaper for a 100 hours or so. After a few design tweaks he ran off a set of ten for some on-road real world testing.

    Shock-1.jpg

Popped down the other day to see them after they'd returned from the anodisers. This is one from the set that I'll be testing. Mmm - lovely. Guess I'll be driving the Coupe every day soon.

  28. Don't scrimp or "screw around" with antique junk; when it comes to steering! Been there done that (too many times)! Last time it happened I was coming down hill (near 70 mph) entering Turn 10 at Laguna Seca! I stopped inches from the wall (thank God for Kitty Litter")! I replaced the Old 20's Franklin steering box with a brand new Schroeder! A bit of a "Knot-Head", my first crash was in 1955 (with such junk)! It was in a '33 Ford Tudor "Jalopy" @ at Western Stadium. I really don't know what failed first: the steering or some of my "Shitty" welds! (or probably a combination of both) Either way, I hit the wall and ended up upside down in the infield; with my t-shirt, helmet and goggles full of clay. I ached all over for a week! If you want to go fast use good stuff! So when you see some neat junk for steering; DON'T DO IT!......Just my two cents! (with inflation: Twenty bucks!)
