Looks like son in law maybe starting a Flathead build.. we’re gonna try and save this motor. We’re thinking it’s either a French Flathead or Mercury. We’ll check the stroke as soon as we can rotate it. Anyone know a different way to check the make? Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
If both heads are off, assume one piston is near top of stroke and one is near bottom of stroke. The difference in distance from the gasket deck would approximate the stroke.
Some Mercs have 4 bolts to mount the carb. you could look at the size of the cleanout holes in the crank. If a pencil fits=ford, if your pinkie fits=Merc

faww, i have made door garnish for a glass '32 3 window, i used 1935 to '39 truck rear window mlds... it was chopped so i heated and let the corners contract when cooled, a few times... needed 3 truck mlds to make the mlds for both doors... sorry no pix...
