Got my hard top painted, turned out like shit. Had a softball size spot that crinkled up (contamination?) so sanding it down again. Lower right in photo.

You know, I was thinking the hardtop might look cool and custom painted matte black with the shiny stainless trim. It would continue the custom feel of your car and fit with the mild deviations from stock. Just a thought.

  6. Wow a year has gone by since I last posted.
Didn't get any car shows in this year due to China virus.

Took the last cruise of the year at the end of October.

Replaced the cassette radio and blown out speakers installed in the 1970's. Used a Retro-Sound Wonderbar "reproduction" radio. Looks old but has Bluetooth, USB, subwoofer and aux amp ports. New JBL kick panel speakers and adding a stereo speaker in the dash.

If I was a contortionist it would've been much easier.
Damn seat bracket across the middle of my back.

Realized after this picture the dash needs a polish.
The old faceplate from the cassette left marks in the paint.

Friend of mine took this B&W engine photo a while back.
    Thought it was kinda cool.

Very cool '58....like your ideas to make the engine compartment look close to stock!

  9. @LowKat just a couple days ago I was wondering what happened to you. It's good to see you've been working on the Vette.

I picked up a couple of these (yoga mats)

Cut one into thirds and left the other full length for rolling or folding. I need to pull my dash cluster to install new gauge lenses but I'm going to put it off as long as possible.

They look soft but firm and very comfortable. Or were you talking about the mats? Seriously, that is the most beautiful C1 I've ever seen, bar none. Your attention to detail is unbelievable. Great tribute to your friend.

Just discovered your thread this morning, and not sure why it's never popped up for me before today? I recall seeing your Vette at Portland Transmission's spring show back when you first bought it, and thought it was a very cool car with the old school diamond pattern interior! Haven't seen it around since that show, so nice to see the changes you've done to it in the last few years!
Hopefully I'll see it, and you at a local show this summer if our idiot governor ever sees fit to allow things to open up again!

I live south of Oregon City so don't make many Portland shows but won't miss Portland Trans. It's the best and many cars you won't see anywhere else. I went to the 2018 show but arrived kinda late in 2019. Who knows what will happen this year but we'll be out drivin' on the weekends. You can find me on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/mark.bruce.54966

Couple great shows out this way are Cutsfort's in Canby (about 600 registered cars plus 2-300 unregisered, live music, food carts and vendors around large shady city park) https://www.cutsforthscruisein.com/ and another in Colton called "Summer Finally Got Here". About 200 cars. Beautiful private park setting with trails thruogh the trees. Free breakfast, lunch, snacks, water, pop. also have games and a great 50's - 60's band with professional dancers that change their costumes with the era of the music. Free admission but accept donations for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. http://summerfinallygothere.com/

I've seen your car and it puts a smile on my face. I'd love to build a gasser but now I'm so busy at work building cars I can't do anything at home. Sold my 383 powered 62 Nova wagon last weekend which I kept thinking gasser. Bought it 8 years ago and it didn't move for the last 5. Went to a good guy.

Here's my next project at work, 34 Packard divided limo.
Waiting on the painted main body

  18. Picked up this turd last weekend. And I do mean turd. The passenger seat had a pile of petrified Raccoon shit. 1965 Buick Riviera. Parked in this spot in 1978 . Was given to me about 15 years ago but had forgotten about it. Owner called me last week.

1 of 2,100 out of 38,000 with the "LW" coded 4bbl 425" nailhead engine that weren't Gran Sports. Original everything except LF fender which had been repaired once and is toast again. Came with paperwork including a nice Protecto-Plate warranty manual. Has plenty of options but oddly no A/C.

Has some rust but looks like floors are good.
Haven't tried to turn the engine over yet.
Gonna flip it after a little work.

Original owner was Fred Wessinger who owned Blitz Weinhard brewery in Portland Oregon. He special ordered the Riv soon after being promoted to President, before he owned the company. He was responsible for Henry Weinhard's Special Reserve beer and his great grandfather was Henry Weinhard.

Best part was Buick used a 58-62 Corvette courtesy light in the glovebox.
My Vette never had one. Clean it up and install in the '58 someday.

Buddy of mine had a Riviera given to him early this year. Not as smelly as yours probably his was mostly kept inside the last few years. It was no creme puff by any stretch. He towed it home did a couple very minor repairs and found the engine locked up so it sat. Well a guy comes into the garage and just had to have it! So he sold it and down the road it went! Good luck with yours.

  25. When the trees turn red the Vette goes to bed for the winter. Haven't done much on the car but drove it a lot this year. Only went to one cruise-in this summer. It was a private "show" at Jerry Logan's "Car Barn". He's the owner of the Copper Caddy that Dave Kendig built. Jerry has a very eclectic collection in the 300 foot long barn but mostly HAMB friendly shown. DSC01509 2020 10 25 Morman church 30.jpg

Very NICE collection indeed! I always wonder with a collection like that how does a person decide which vehicle to take out? I know that most rarely see the road but I'm sure some get taken to shows from time to time. Thanks for the peek. Joe

  28. Cruised the Vette around in the country a couple weeks ago on a rare dry but cold day to make sure everything's working and no leaks. An hour with the tunes cranked and the heater blasting. What a relaxing time. I love this car.

    CAR SEASON.... BRING IT ON.

Both Portland swap meets are "on" for 2 weeks from today. Then on May 7th, the best cruise-in/show in the NW is happening. Portland Transmission Spring Classic.... This free show usually draws 1000+ cars with about 1/2 of them registered. Many of them are only seen at this show, once a year. Downside, it starts at the crack of dawn. Some photos from past show.
