Opportunity to snap a couple pictures today. Still driving the roadster to work whenever possible.

Louie...You've sewed it all up, my friend. As I mentioned, the Anderegg saga has been with me for years. But, from the last time I saw the original Anderegg roadster in the next lane, Highway 17 from Santa Cruz for about a mile?
Then, a long trip thru Twilight Zone to now, in a couple of short videos 'makes my trip', as the car still rolls in its same mystique, long, low, and graceful.
    "Slippery", for a once-'stately' Model T Coupe!

Ray had a bud with a channeled '32 five window coupe, also pale yellow...they cruised together, Lester Codd says they were envied, and he and others built hot rods as a result.
Somewhere in that time frame, (1956) a San Jose State college student lived across the street from my girlfriend, in Santa Clara...Basketball player, Ron Schwabe. Rumor had it he bought a '32 Ford, a Coupe...'hot rod'. I walked across the street, Ron and a friend were in the garage, I entered...
A pale yellow channeled '32 Five window was jacked up in front, stands under the Mor-Drop axle. REAL clean car, radiator and shell were off, they were attempting to install the engine, a 59-A flathead, 3 jugger, Offie heads, Hedman headers...Looked for all the world like a Hot Rod magazine cover photo!
Schwabe was having 'interference' with the front pulley and crossmember...channeled body's firewall was limiting the bellhousing clearance to bellhousing.
    "This your car, Schwabe?"
"Yeh...Engine came out O.K., now the pulley's in the way... Maybe the mechanic took it off when they took the engine out..."
I said, "Pull it off, the engine'll go right in..." They said "You need a puller..."
I said, "May I?" 12" adjustable 'Crescent' was what they had, I popped the crankshaft bolt loose and the pulley slid right off. "Hey, nice goin'!"
Schwabe said the car came from Merced...
It was years before buddy Frank Dutra told me some about Smiley's '32. This was Smiley's car...Finally, in 1995, the 40-year mystery of the yellow '32 Five window solved!

I originally drew up some drafts of the Anderegg car in 1964, enlarging photos of the original to a plan I could work from. Collected some parts, laid a chassis out, but too many projects forced sale of most 'universal' pieces and the project was relegated to my file cabinet.
    1978:
My friend Harry Craycroft (Bay Area Roadsters) informed me that he had bought the car from a gent in Gustine...(the one that got a low windshield ticket (!) and retroed a stock one, painted car black)
Harry dismantled the car, painted it red, added stainless fenders...The car was on the original modified '41 Merc frame, but was...'different'.
Ray found it around this time, and got it back. He had to restore it to its original status...Too busy with his business, Ray commissioned Bob Ogden to bring the roadster back to its original splendor...
Well, the car was finished, and beautifully...but it was different.

{Same year, 1978, Frankie Costanza ('Von Franco') begged me to go see some '27 'T' coupes, in a guy's yard in Campbell, 5 blocks from my shop. There were 3 bodies, and 2 frames. Frankie got all 3 for $150, 2 bodies had zero rust, the third wasn't bad.
Bodies were stored at my brother's house, then Frankie took one to Dan Siegel (who built the frame on the famous 'Kookie Klone') and put the '27 Coupe body upstairs.
    My brother sold one other to Jeff Mereira in Merced, which is the one you ended up with. (Frankie had shortened a door length, thinking that the body needed to be shorter, not 'taller at the rear quarters')}

Sometimes family just has to step in. And it's a good thing, otherwise the design, mystique, and presence of the AMBR 1955 would have been lost to the pages of old magazines...Thanks for your perseverance, Louie.
Now we have it back. (sorry for the 'magazine length post', but this is accurate, albeit incomplete around the Gustine owner's length of ownership)

20180822_092612.jpg Great stuff Mike! Thank you for your kind words. Heres a shot out of my photo album. The Gustine version with the tall windshield (1970) and Harry's version around 1975ish before he dismantled it and kept the VIN and title for a track T he built later.

A few recent pictures. Still no new interior, still no new paint...but I drive it whenever possible to work. Been taking it to local car shows and a few not so local shows. Its style is so very unique when compared to other cars at the shows.

Newly unearthed from the Peterson archives. 1956 when Uncle Ray took the roadster back to Oakland as an Exhibit of Honor. 646465scr_wm_0b8f15b86df90b0.jpg
And again in 1960 after the first rebuild and new gold paint.

...I never tire of this history, @ANDEREGG TRIBUTE...the 60 version does have a Hood I see with no cutout for the Carbs...how did that work or was it merely available with adjustments required if used? Have you ever seen your Uncle Ray's Hotrod in the Collection it resides in? I'm also curious if you and Von Franco have ever met for a bit of a surreal meeting of the Awesome?

Thanks @Stogy ! I believe the the hood fits with the air cleaners removed. I've never seen the roadster where it currently resides. The last time I saw the roadster was in 1993 or so. I talked to Uncle Ray for 20 minutes standing next to it never realizing it was the roadster. It really looked so much like all the other hot rods at the time and I was new to the family I never grasped the importance at that time...to my regret. But thankfully things changed and I got to spend a bunch of time with Uncle Ray and countless time on the phone with him. VF and I have spoken numerous times on the phone (though have yet to meet in person). He's an awesome guy and we get along great and has given me his Koolsville stamp of approval and knows I "get it" when it comes to the importance and history of the roadster. I'm little by little collecting his artwork that relates to the roadster. I'm still amazed and humbled daily on Facebook and other social media at the reaction to the original roadster and my build. I'd like to think that same pride Uncle Ray had for his car flows through me for mine. Thanks

@ANDEREGG TRIBUTE...I recently started a Thread on Half Fendered Hotrods and a Hamber @Lil'Alb posed a question regarding the 1962 version of Uncle Ray's Roadster. It sported a top and he was wondering how one got in with I believe what I read a doorless Hotrod?

I noted you have a passenger door on your Tribute T.

I can't make out if the 62 version of Uncle Raymond's T in fact had a door opened due to the Top install. I suspect it either tilted or was just for show. The link to the question is below...Thanks and hope all is well with you and the family...

Thanks for the fantastic build thread. So kool to pay tribute to your late uncle Ray with this project. I do have recollections of going thru my older cousin Larry’s HRM’s as a kid and this roadster is one of the ones that sparked my interest. Well done and I hope all is well with you and the family in this crazy year. Take care and drive that thang!
