Ok, I have a 54 Ford customline and I don't like the dash very much. I am planning on rewiring the car and pulling out the dash to make it easy to work on. While doing this I'm wondering what cool looking dash will fit in its place without any major modifications?

    Thanks

I dont like the 54 dash either..what about a 52-53 ford dash..they look much better than the 54 dash..also 52-54 mercury might work without any mods..since the have the same body style..

X2 on the Merc. Some people love them, others don't ...

  4. I realize the dash doesn't appeal to everybody,,,even me,,so I
modified mine so I could use gauges. HRP

  5. x3 on the merc dash

  6. Hotrodprimer, I like what you did with the gauges on your '54 dash. The '55 TBird dash has a lot in common with the '54 dash, uses a '54 radio.

I always liked the 54 pass car and 55 T Bird dash.

Did you know that some 1954 Fords assembled in Canada had 1953 dashes in them? Also some had flat-head engines as well. A very few had mercury dashes. These were all done by FORD and not mods by buyers. Ford didn't waste anything!!

Heres a pic of what i did with my 54 dash, insert is welded up and smoothed out when it was done. Dont have a pic of it finished, but you get the idea. It totally changed the look of the dash. Was going to put a set of SW gauges in'em and moved the radio in the glovebox.

Spent many, many hours and miles looking at the dash in my '56 Victoria. Because of the dog leg, it's deeper than a '54 dash but if you can shorten it, it would be a huge improvement.
