Holy crap !!!!!!! How would you describe the tire configuration? Bigs and bigs? Necessity is truly the mother of invention.....................................
What??? In fact, I'm posting this just to prove that it was done "back in the day". For when I build my Model A with airplane tires...
“ the wind sometimes would blow it off the road” and I quote !!!! That’s too funny and it looks killer! I posted something like this to a picture thread a while ago, the post man would do some crazy things to get the mail delivered back then!!!
Yeah, a strong wind would blow it right off the road! Might have done better with one of those half track setups.
I like it. Right after WW2 Dad said our mailman drove a military armored half track. Was always running out of gas. Lippy
Exiting a central Nebraska North route off I-80 to connect with hwy. 30 I saw the very same big wheel modifications on a model 'A' coupe in a farm yard, not certain what hwy. as it was 15 years or so ago, near as I can recall it had modified heavy spoke wheel centers
Top needs to be chopped. Not too much... wouldn't wanna throw off the proportions. And fenderless. No hood. Hemi... Nailhead... Olds... We always help our girlfriends in. Gentlemen, we are.
Cool....thanks for sharing.....maybe his dad wasn't a hot rodder -but he sure helped his son do his job !
https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1930-ford-model-a-off-road-mail-truck.1132571/ at least original posters was a closed cab.....
In the original post it says they are aircraft tires. Would assume something similar on the roadster.
Cool, @clem. I think the Sport Coupe you posted has large implement or military tires. What blows me away, is that it has old spindly wire wheels on the front... and WOODEN spoked wheels on the back!
