Sunday 21st Feb, worked a 12 hr shift overnight finishing at 0600hrs. Straight into the Vedette from work and off up the hill to Northam for a vintage car swap meet. Hour and a bit of country drive, old car, steep hills, main thoroughfare to the eastern states, what could go wrong . Glad to say absolutely nothing, the Vedette drove like a champion, sat on the speed limit the whole way (110kms/hr) and enjoyed myself. Was rushing to get there for opening at 0700hrs with the theory that if I parked inside and the Vedette was seen someone would have seen one on a local farm rusting away. No luck but did find some original hubcaps in a trailer full of caps. Two stainless ones reparable and two steel ones from an earlier Vedette that I'll sandblast and paint up as wall hangers. All in all an enjoyable day, 35c and a lot of buyers and sellers.
The green Dodge with the 426 Hemi was a great buy for $22,000. Wanted to take it home but the trouble and strife (wife) would have disowned me even more than usual.
