Buddy was showing off his mill to a local as i walked up... he says look at the air cleaner on this rascal... well i had my camera and thought i would throw a pic out here for the "know most of it" guys to have at it... i do like it though !
Thanks boys that was fun, Dave got a kick out of the responses... That is a 1947 Ford cabover air cleaner flipped 180* with the oilbath removed, a 4" cheapie base screwed in to align the rear carb... An 8" filter and a rare aftermarket "deluxe in red script" hubcap ... stickers because he was just having fun making the darn thing ! ... any other just for fun creations out there...?
I bought this whippy little MoPar air cleaner at a swap meet about 10 years ago. The plan was to find another one just like it and run them on my Pontiac dual quad intake with a couple AFBs. The tape measure said they'd both fit without contacting each other. I've never seen another one like it in 10 years searching. In a massive purge during moving to a new house/garage I included it in a scrap drive.
Now these guys have me afraid that they are going to get their undies in a wad when I take the oval finned cast aluminum 4 barrel air cleaner I have and modify the base to use with a pair of 2 barrels on my flathead. Actually I think that aircleaner setup is cool as all get out and 75 % of guys who look at it at events won't know the difference anyhow.
I thought for fun I would make an adapter to use this air filter on my dual quad intake on my Buick 322.
gonna have to snap some pix of one i have way back on the shelf... heatmaster aluminum housing laying flat, home made base with a commode cover as a lid...
