Coastal Northern Cal here, wet and rainy through the winter months. No snow, but I leave old stuff indoors when it rains if I can help it. I don't care if I get caught in the rain, but being wet all the time rusts out old cars. Today was nice, I put another 50 miles on my new engine.

the wife and I go for a cruise in the truck just about every weekend( either Sat or Sun) as long it its not raining or possibly snowing. The winters in southeast VA are not terrible. Down side is that the work I want to do on it would require me to have it down for a while and I'm not ready to sacrifice the drive time for that.

Not a chance , I live in Michigan but I’m fixing that real soon with a move to Tennessee this spring. I will miss my hot rod buddies and the many car events we have in the summer but I pretty sure Tennessee might have a car guy or two to hang with.

There are a few of us in Tennessee , what part are you moving to? It was 43 degrees and sunny in Knoxville today and I took a short drive in the coupe, and have driven the roadster twice sans top since New Years day.

Calgary AB. Yup, year round driving is a thing for some of us. Less bugs when there’s a few flakes on the ground.

I could but I won’t, the roads are white from all the de-icing chemicals.

  16. In previous years yes. But not this year. Snow and ice every other week. I’m really ready for Spring! IMG_0812.JPG IMG_0824.JPG

Pittsburgh, we usually get three months off. This gives us the perfect amount of time to do upgrades without feeling like I'm missing something..
I usually start winter upgrades right after Christmas and get them finished by March. Right now my el Camino is all ready to go. Should be a couple weeks yet. Taking a couple months off to upgrade my car works for me. I enjoy being in my nice warm garage with coffee maker brewing, the snow outside, listening to the radio and being able to take my time and enjoy the work.. Everybody whos into cars in my area are all doing the same thing now.. This is actually a very busy time for us.. I retired this year so I have time but the truth is I've never been busier lol..

Elco, you made me think back to my college days in Troy, N.Y. My roomie, Pete, had connections with the local car guys and one bunch had numerous rods in their downtown alleyway garages. Got a short ride in a M/P ‘63 Falcon ‘Vert equipped with dual carb small block and open headers. Another buddy had a Corvair van with a mid mounted 396, a ‘56 Chevy Pie wagon with a 4-71 blown small block and at least another half dozen blowers on the shelves! Good Times.

I'd love to see any of those cars but that 396 van must of been wild. Can you imagine lining up with a GTO or a 454 Vette and blowing them into the weeds!! LOL.. Lots of farmers out that way. They build all kinds of cool things..

  22. Not practical to drive them year round, but that leads to some great indoor shows- Detroit autorama, and if you are lucky maybe a vacation trip to the south with friends or family- good guys scotsdale in march, BJ one year, Moltrie Georgia, hoping for Zephyr hills some day if things get back to normal.

I don’t remember his name, but he was involved with the Lebanon Valley drag strip. The van’s wheelbase was extended rearward to accommodate the engine combo and was said to have won it’s fair share of races on the strip (of course)! The pie wagon was an ex modified production car converted to the street with the blower.

Yes. There are only about 25-40 days total where I wouldn't drive an old car here in beautiful Canon City, CO.

In theory....yes, but driving a 70 plus year old car with a tiny heater and none of the modern driving aids in through ice snow and salt for three months of the year isn't going to make it a very pleasurable experience.
