I actually shot this video a couple of years ago, but just stitched it together as a project to test out a new account with Rumble. Uploaded it today.

Looks like the forum software here won't allow videos on Rumble to be embedded.

    Hello,

The So Cal coastal cruising area in that portion of the coast is one of the best. It does look nice, empty and such, due to the pandemic, but it is the journey, not necessarily the destination. Every time we see a photo of that highway, a big feeling of envy arises even though we have been on that road hundreds of times on our journeys. That road was our home away from home from 1959 to the present day vacation road trips.

It was the search for pristine waves along the coast and when the coastal road hit Santa Barbara, that was the destination for most of our trips. The Ventura guys/girls live in a nice area with plenty of coastal surf spots to keep everyone busy. The drive is still great from Ventura to Santa Barbara, despite the freeway changes that happened to some spots.

Nice photo of the road trip. Here is one of the best videos showing anyone what the drive looks like on a sunny day throughout the year. The video is the opposite of @ KEVIN DANA and the cool windshield photo. The photo location is close to the end of the video area. The video starts at the Oxnard/Ventura end and goes toward the city of Malibu and Santa Monica.

    Hello,

Growing up in So Cal is/was important for us. The teen years set the pace and as 20 somethings, all of the experiences led to having the most fun and expanding your lifestyle to the fullest. By the time I was 21, the world was changing and we had to adapt to its weird ways. There was a world wide conflict going on and it was creeping into our society. Locally, there were riots and more conflict within our own borders. It was getting harder to just go out and have the time of your life as the future loomed over your head. And constantly, the mantra was heard… “What are you going to do with the rest of your life?” (From friends, family and those pesky college professors)

I met someone in college and it led to the changing in our lives. The time was right to start being together and to set a flexible wall against all that was headed our way. So, we grew up traveling all over the West Coast of the USA in that cool, Red 1965 El Camino, to see and experience what we could as time allowed. Rock music, cliff side coastal cruises, photography, motorcycles, hot rods, custom cars, meeting new friends, all led to acknowledging our changing lives.

We would all like to go back to that hectic time period. It was exciting learning how to get along with others. We did learn how to cope with the trials and tribulations of a strange world and the things we may encounter in the coming future. So, growing up together in that 65 El Camino for 125k miles took us to new experiences and new ways to live in the USA. There was a lot to look at through the windshield and experience life as it presented itself to us.

In 1965-75, the little neighborhood car washes were hand wash by a lot of workers, using a power spray nozzle at the side by side stalls, or a white soapy water solution for the whole car. In the big car washes, we used to stay in the car to watch the white soap and spray rinses come down on the windshield. It was simple, fast and left the shiny paint nice looking. The driveways were the location and water usage was not a problem when washing at home.

Jump up to 2020 and even during the hectic pandemic with the “little to no driving” road trips, it does rain in So Cal. The neighborhood hand car wash in the driveway is frowned upon with the So Cal city water shortages. The sprinklers are given specific days to water the plants, and everyone looks at you funny when you hand water specific trees and pots… welcome to So Cal.

Comparing the current available car washes from the ritzy to plain, it is no longer a single white soapy solution, rinse spray and then dry. It is a fancy solution in three choices and costs. This is a new age solution for VALENTINE’S DAY memories.

Not through the windshield, but does the side window count?

02/20/21 We had sunshine and 43 degrees in Knoxville today, which means its roadster weather. This is what I saw. 20210220_151826.jpg 20210220_151804.jpg 20210220_151625.jpg 20210220_151642.jpg 20210220_150652.jpg

^^^5 speeds are fun! Glad it's working correctly. To me; 5 speeds really wake up a flathead and bangers, too!
    Have fun and be safe.
