Sorry but I need to be slightly OT. I am working on a ‘41 Ford sedan. Are the rear windows and seals the same through ‘48, and also the same as Mercury for those years. If yes, will the stainless work for all using the seal designed to accept it? Thanks in advance

Yes the windows are the same. I can't say positively that the SS will work but I don't see why it wouldn't with all the rest being the same

  6. Went to a car show last weekend and this Coupe was there, now it has a 46 centre piece in the grille but the rest was something I had not seen before, the Grille base did not have any holes for the upper grille end pieces , it was chromed and had started to go rusty .Would this be a Repro Grille base or ?
It was in Australia and the guy that had it had only owned the car for 3 months and didn't know about any of this stuff, it had been imported from the USA sometime earlier, it was LHD and had a few parts from different years.
Just my curious side coming out.

One of my favorites, based on a 41 convertible. Built by Squeeg Jerger 30+ years ago from a Dave Bell sketch.

Recently picked up this Merc from a long slumber...not sure which direction to go with it. Very solid old girl.

Here's one I am slowly working through. Bought it from Lou at Old Stillwater Garage a while back. Been stood up for decades untouched.
I had it shipped to the UK and have done a fair bit to it so far. Had it fired up and running well within a few hours , drove it forward and back and it selects gears and clutch works well,
I've changed out the damaged front end panels, dressed out several dents in the body and fitted the now stainless that came with it.
I'm in the process of fabbing up new inner rockers and welding them in.
Plan is to get it on the road and registered and have some fun in it once we are out of all this lockdown crap. Long term plan is a late 40s-early 50s taildragger, chopped ( most likely ) , lowered rear end, Nice period interior etc etc. IMG_2117.JPG IMG_2123.JPG

  25. Hi Guys
Just received this in an email from a friend, so if anyone is interested then email Carmon Dillard

A gentleman in Colorado called me yesterday saying he was trying to sell a 41 Mercury Convertible and a 41 Ford Convertible, both projects. I told him I would send out his information to those that might be interested or know of someone that is interested. If you are interested contact Carmon Dillard directly. I know nothing further about the cars, or their condition. My only contact with Carmon was the call yesterday. I have no skin in this. He sent me several pictures, I'm attaching a couple of them. For more pictures, contact Carmon directly. I thought someone might be looking for a cat project for the pandemic.

    Have a great day!

    Joe,

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me regarding my Father-in-law’s convertibles. Below is a brief description of what he has. I will be sending photos in additional emails to keep the files small. We have advertised both cars and all the additional parts for $19,410 or best offer. After looking at the description and pictures I would appreciate any feedback you might have.

    Thanks,

    Carmon Dillard

  29. Hi Guys
For those on Facebook you will know about this, but just over a week ago I was trying to get my 46 started but had an Electric fuel pump problem, so one little spark from a couple of wires and up it went, 4 years of work up in flames, I will rebuild but not straight away, I need a new shop first. then I will rebuilt without computers or EFI, just using the KISS method, with Carby and no electronics except for what is needed . 46.Convertible.1264.jpg 46.Convertible.1265.jpg 46.Convertible.1266.jpg 46.Convertible.1267.jpg 46.Convertible.1268.jpg
