  11. Good morning and a great start for the FAS. Last week I posted a valentine from last year. I said that I’d post one of this year’s today. Well I didn’t do much. But it’s the thought that counts. She gave me the Red Hot Wheels. {True Love!!} Lol [IMG]

    Hello,

Drawing any car takes time and patience. But this particular one was difficult to get the proportions correct. It is one of the best custom cars (IOHO) in California. Or it probably is one of the best cars to cruise daily unbeknownst to most that it has a radical body work done to it. To the naked eye, walking by the bright yellow 39 Chevy sedan, the thing that draws anyone’s attention is the bright yellow paint. Then the green custom flames pokes your senses.

When my wife and I were wandering around the famous Andy’s Picnics that were held in Crow Canyon Park, Castro Valley, CA. It was one of those cars that just stays with you for a long time. After we left the all day show, it was one sedan that my wife liked and we both talked about it on the way to visit some friends and continue long road trip. It was a topic of conversation in the El Camino throughout the cruise to the next destination.

I wanted to do a photo shoot of the Chevy sedan, but a Northern California photographer told us that it was already in someone’s photo files ready for a submission to a magazine or two. It was one of those cars that just shows what can be done tastefully with custom car building skills and not make it looked squashed or that something is missing from the build.

Some interesting facts about the 39 Chevy sedan:

“GNRS1969. NorCal painter and pinstriper Rod Powell entered his 1939 Chevrolet Sedan. The car featured a body sectioned and channeled a total of 4 inches, then covered in many coats of Murano pearl yellow lacquer. Other body mods included radiused wheel wells, a rolled rear pan and a one-piece windshield. The engine was a 292 cubic inch Chevrolet. Rod’s first Roadster Show was 1958 and he is a member of the GNRS Hall of Fame.”
