Look what just showed up on "Hot Rod" online. My '36 in it's new, overwrought and stoopid expensive version. Nice that the shop that did the re-hash took credit for the build, but I suppose since all they used was the body, it's now their build. I certainly don't want credit for it now. Well, maybe a little would have been nice... CEDDBFEE-2E3F-4457-9697-36534174C1BC.jpeg 7273FF3D-DCCC-4B46-BF3B-72C3BDBCB135_4_5005_c.jpeg

I bet that was a bit of the journalist not getting the whole story. Hopefully the shop didn't claim they built the whole thing.

  8. Really Brian, I myself like your version better. Every time I looked at my 36 sedan I thought of how cool yours was. Mitch

They did exactly that. They DO have a lot of equipment, a clean shop, and space, compared to my shop, which is dirty, sort of dark, and the most elaborate piece of equipment I have have is a stump with a railroad iron anvil...:p

Well, I try not brag. I made the anvil myself, it took almost all the acetylene and 02 in the tanks to cut and shape it. I have about 12' left, if you want me to ship you some...
Edit: Cool true story, it's from railroad track that used to go through my property, in fact, the grade is my driveway. When we built the original garage, when I cut through the topsoil with the dozer, I sliced through a whole run of ties. Last fall, when we built the new barn, trenching to run power, the trencher cut into more ties, and I churned up a bunch of spikes. I found the 12' section of track when I peeled topsoil back for the barn. The foundations for the depot and other buildings are still there as well. Interesting bit of history.

  18. Brian, We know who designed and built the car originally, they changed it some and take all the credit.

I liked the green paint better. HRP

It's disappointing that someone claims the 'build' when those in the know see it as a refurbishment or a morph. Sadly others sometimes claim credit when important things aren't disclosed or conveniently overlooked; they should 'fess up' and be totally honest, don't hide behind semantics, ....'here is one of the cars built by ....'. Akin to fudging the figures. It's disappointing that you get zero recognition whatsoever.

Thanks for the offer Brian...sounds great! I hope you have enough bubble-wrap for 12' of track...I wouldn't want it to get damaged in the mail;)
And, although I do have trees on my property, I'm kinda lazy...could you send me a stump too?:p

  28. Yep - your idea and follow thru - yours I could drive.....the new version not so much.

Your car was really special. One of a kind and as usual someone thinks they can take it up a notch resulting in a ride with no soul or attitude. Your old car is the second hot rod in a week that I found that was "upgraded". The other was the Corvair powered T. Just like your car the first version was the best.
