  2. If you check out the Tour d’Elegance 2020 General admission tickets. Tweety is in the right side next to the 1978 AMBR roadster. We are also in the video for the Tour too. It’s only for 2 second but we are in it. There was only 26 cars that were used in this footage for Pebble Beach tickets. What a honor for Jim! 4D691DA6-9C25-49D7-BC14-70E45749A3C6.jpeg 1D49C801-A7A1-4FF2-BFD3-E4E31692DE8F.jpeg 529B716C-FFA8-4A82-B484-ECFDED6DEA2D.png

I have not seen much about Tweety lately. I found this pic that I think is new. 17E0A668-C715-4555-995E-B6B9A000BF41.jpeg

  4. A truly amazing find by another fan of the Bird. I was contacted through Facebook Messenger and was sent this great pic from the Peterson Musiem archives. What’s even more awesome Is the car Tweety is racing is now the only known photo at the 1957 & 1958 NHRA Nationals of the car that Brian Bass now owns. It was registered at both years with no other documentation it actually raced there. I met Brian at the Lonestare Roundup a few years back and remembered the the car number he was looking for. We need to get these two roadsters together for a photo shoot. CE1BDB7F-9BDE-4DF1-92D0-84BFBCE32FD9.jpeg

Yes you definitely do. It’s amazing that both of them survived and are identifiable and are similar to what they were and are both still in Texas with people that appreciate their history. That would be an amazing Photo Shoot.

  10. What great photos of August “Hands” Hartkoph. That’s the Buck and Bohls drag car. Seems like that car crashed racing. The Buck and Bohls team was more known with yellow full belly pan roadster that was in Hot Rod Magazine. August still has a half sister still living and has his ring he used to wear.

The newest cars I see in the background are all 1959s, and there are a few. Might be '59 or '60.

  14. This one of the best pictures of August I’ve ever seen. Just one look at the gentle giant and you can see why they call him “Hands”. C1F68CC4-3C1E-4A46-A3F5-A07582D53807.jpeg

Butch Lake is August’s half brother, still racing in Texas.

  16. Here’s a great clip out of the Austin American Statesman 1951. Bobby Raatz was my auto mechanics teacher at Crockett High School. All three of these boys in the picture were friends with Jim also. B811048C-C654-4930-8264-AC8290F5122A.jpeg EE264805-398C-481C-9C6B-72780F4767B6.jpeg
