I think more than half of the vehicles in the road had trailers. Saw license plates from Minnesota and Wisconsin.
YouTuber Midnight Flyer posted a couple videos from the auction. A lot of amazing stuff in addition to the old cars:
Were the auctioneers pretty much on target with the years of those cars or were they somewhat ignorant about what they were actually selling?
Really only noticed one T that was off on year, this one is 26 or 27. Luckily for the auctioneer several had YOM plates on them.
Thank you 24RIVERVIEW for sharing all of the pictures. I would also be very interested to hear what some of these cars and some of the parts sold for. Auctions are always fascinating to me. And I agree with whoever said that the worst weather brings out the most bidders. That's been my experience as well, many times. Never could figure that one out.
Happens here as well, I think it’s because there is nothing else to do... Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Yeah sorry, kinda dropped the ball on that one. I usually keep good track of that info when I go to these but couldn't figure out a good way to do that and keep my fingers functional that day, lol. A few from my memory- (add the 10% buyers premium to all these) I don't think any of the T's out front went for any less than $12-1500, some higher. 34 sedan - $3500 49-50 F1 - $17 or 1800 (Corrected $2700) 21 roadster/runabout - $2400 A sedan shell - $200 T door (door only) - $100 A coupe - $3200
Thanks to @24riverview for the pictures and prices. You are a better man than me to stand out side and do what you did. I hope you enjoyed the trip, I'd have liked to have been there too.
Having been there also, it was cold! There was no shortage of bidders. I agree with 24riverview, (by the way his beard and mustache were frozen) it seems like things went on the higher side. They did sell a lot of piles. Some vehicles had a lot of junk that went with them. LOL. Likely a lot of buyers took the prize out of the pile they purchased and left the rest. The many guns and gun parts seemed to go for ridiculous prices to say the least. If was definitely a fun day.
Since I am building a 50 F1 I was interested to see what this one would bring. I can say the F1 went for $2700.00, they were trying to get $2800.00. Made me back out.
Don't you have all eight plus two thumbs to rotate? Man just being out in that cold gets you a pat on the back for doing it. Thanks for doing what you did and now, get warm.
So much for my memory , and I thought what I remembered was high! Lots of layers man! Actually felt almost balmy down there compared to what I came home to !
More snow out your way? We still have 8" on the ground compacted from about 12" and expecting 6-8" more. Man I am reliving my youth when we had snow for the entire Winter season. If only the body was still young.
Since these guys made me feel like a slacker for not keeping track of the prices (joking obviously guys, no offence taken!), I contacted the auction company today who kindly provided me with that info. Sorry about the repeat photos but this was the best way I could figure out to do it. All prices do include the 10% buyers premium. One more note-the price for Chevy 1.5 ton above included whatever the hell that was attached to it.
Thanks for posting guys - there were/was soooo much stuff . Went to many up there back in the day and bought a lot of stuff I still have. Wonder if it all got sold - there were so many piles. Was that an old HD motorcycle frame ? The motor had to be around there somewhere....
Thanks for the update 24RIVERVIEW, that's great reporting. Reminds me of the old-time HAMB when guys would come back from sales and shows and do a writeup on what they saw. A few of those seem like pretty good deals, but others seem pretty spendy, at least to me. Very interesting for sure.
24RIVERVIEW, this is old news now and yes you are a slacker! Now to get serious. Thanks for your diligence in posting some of those prices on vehicles. You are a stand up gentleman that made a commitment and kept his word. Back in the early 2000's I bought a 1965 F 250 from Oklahoma and it was in excellent condition. I paid way more than $1210 so either prices have went down on them or mine was in way better shape. Again thank you for your commitment and, next time wear more gloves to protect your fingers from frostbite.
For the most part I felt the prices were right up there. Not much in the way of any real deals. Maybe the deals were in the piles of parts
24 riverview, thanks for reporting back with pics and prices! Prices look like market value with a few good deals in there. Your picture of the road lined with trucks w/ trailers from surrounding states is sobering. Those are all serious buyers with money. It proves old cars and parts are still hot! I LMAO, every time I read a thread stating that interest and prices are down. I think to myself, not anytime I see something I want at a swap meet or auction. People are climbing all over each other to buy stuff. Auctions are a trip. I recently watched a guy buy a used Mittler Bros. bead roller for $400 more than full retail.
if your talking about that simplex bike the only motor cycle frame i saw in the pictures, then no it's not even close to being a harley more of a scooter along the cushman style
Just surfing Youtube and found another video, taken during the preview before the auction: Thanks, Tom - BORN 2L8
what an incredible load of junk. even without the cars there is a lot of money there. could be $10,000 worth of rifles and parts alone.
I always like to look at the aerial views of these outdoor hordes. I wish you could choose a season for a Google maps view. Found a little different view on the realtors site.
I know the Ford F-1 trucks are more popular than the pilot house Dodges, but that old Dodge pickup went cheap and looks pretty solid and complete. I'm basically a Ford guy, but I like all old pickups, and wouldn't mind owning a pilot house Dodge. Straight ladder frame lends itself to just about any drivetrain you want to put in it.
