Thinking of chopping my 33 pickup 1-1/2 . Anyone have any pics of a chopped 32-34 pickup ? Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Check this thread out, there is 29 pages dedicated to 32-34 Ford pickups, you should be able to find something there that get's you motivated to cut that top or decide not too. HRP 32-34 Ford trucks
1-1/2"? Thats like dry humping your girlfriend homeboy. Cut that shit. I suggest a nice healthy 6" chop. You owe me a beer now
Have to agree with Adam401 on the 1 1/2” chop. Better yet take a high def side pic and put it on the Photoshop thread and let Mr. Themoose or Madfish do their magic on it so you can actually see what your truck will look like? Regards, Randy Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Before you cut have you figured out a lower seat? Im 6ft1",and I look out the top 2 inches of the windshield of a stock cab 32.Doesnt make for a comfortable long ride truck.
A lot of work for a slightly to no noticeable difference. Better off with a nice lowering job, the right wheels and tires with full fenders and stock roof. It would look good.
I've built 4 deuce pickups, the first one was chopped 2.5 inches, the second 4 and the last 2 were 3 inches. My favorite for a highboy or full fendered pickup is 3 like the green one I have listed in the for sale section. For a channeled pickup I like 4-5 inches. This is just the ramblings of an old hot rodder.
I've had luck in the past with proportion; In other words, let the design of the existing vehicle determine the modification rather than slamming a heavy chop just to have it chopped. I measure from the window-sill, where your arm rests, to the bottom of the door. Divide by 2. Make the chop so that the dimension from the top of the roof to the window-sill is equal to 1/2 the sill to door bottom dimension. (Did I explain that right?) It almost always looks natural to the point where, un-cut doesn't look right... like it's wearing a top hat. In a small cab, it gets a little "hunchy" behind the wheel if you go too low. I've had to lower the seat somehow to fit a 6 footer in. That's Hot Roddin'!
Within two pages you should have your answer. Experience and real world suggestions to yours actually chopped 1 1/2”. The H.A.M.B. got it done IMO! Nice work all. Randy Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Glass but suppose to be 4 inch chop with 4 inch channel. Cab is stretched 8 inches. I have done long trips but it is not comfortable. I'm 5 10.
Yea I would go 1 9/16 anyway. I am all over the board on choping one, Gentleman's chop to hammered to the max. I chopped an A once 2", yes it was the same work as if I chopped it a ton. But it changed it just enough to make people wonder what had been done.
Two generous size lads try out our stock 32 , bit of a comedy watching 6’5 “stretch” pulling his legs in . Then 6’4” “TC” also . Both these guys have big hands ,so not much clearance between dash and steering wheel .
Sit in it. Get a comfortable seat height. Figure out head room. Nothing worse than driving with your neck bent forward, might look cool with a 6 inch cut. You also might hate driving it as well.
My friend Joe chopped this cab in 2007, unfortunately he can't remember exactly how much. He thinks between 1 1/2"-2".
Yeah, a lot depends on your size, but 1-1/2" ain't much, especially considering there's no channel mixed in there. I did mine 3" with a 5" channel, but I did a lot of real life fitting in the sitting position, in relation to the steering wheel, the shifter, the brake pedal, clutch pedal, E-brake handle, the rear & side view mirrors, etc., before I pulled the trigger on taking a cutting wheel in my hands. Get some cardboard & sit in the truck & mock up where the top of the windshield & side windows would be, to see how it will all feels in a real situation.
