Great build, admire your skills. Thought engine was “regular” flathead. Now guess some kind of “f head”. Like 64dodge440 says above, can u show pictures of head &explain how she works?

Are the valves horizontal like a Duesenberg?

That looks like one heavy sonabitch. Those coolant passages are tiny.

There is a single cam with a "rocker rail" directly above it. This serves asapivot point forthe rockers. The valves are horizontal. The combustion chamber is kindof an inverted T with very little clearance between the piston and head.
On the side of the head that isntpictured sub headleadts with the spark plugs mount.
It is wayyy cool 20210117_134452.jpg 20210117_134438.jpg

Found this (gotta blow it up) from this site
    https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/classic-cars/1931-auburn-12-160/104608/page1/

There is a reference to an Auburn site, but you can't navigate to the engine page from the home page.
    Here's a link
    http://www.1932auburnsedan.com/v12-engine-home.html
There are also references to the V12 shop page, but it appears to be MIA.
It was a Texas Fire Truck group that restores and sells parts, with this V12 offshoot.

I pulled the stuck valves tonight and found the valve guides were crumbling.
One guide even came out on the valve lol. 20210203_173416.jpg 20210203_173427.jpg
Im willing to be that a piece of the valve guide is what cracked the piston.
Off to the machine shop with her.

Wow, what I would call 2 heads. One over the cylinders & a smaller one over combustion chamber. Sure never seen one like that - but learning. Great build

Finished welding my tank today. Here's a pic of my poor boy leak detector
Also started adding beauty brackets to my seat frame.

This part of the build sucks because you feel like your tearing apart everything you've done but it is what it is.

Getting ready to order sprockets. What would a 44 36 combo look like for rpm at 60mph Desmo Dog?

I have begun collecting the final parts for the driveline. I searched hi an low and found a 1 foot chunk of 11"id .5"wall dom to create extend brake drums to attach my hubs to my sprockets which are also on order.

    The sprockets arrived today 20210525_111452.jpg

  27. Will you weld the sprockets solid to the shafts or will the back one need a key way cut into it?

The rear sprockets will be welded to the Hubs and the fronts will be bolted to the axles

  29. OK, thank you Sir. I was wondering how you would eliminate any slippage. So the larger of the two still need the bolt circle drilled?
